Right we now know there is an issue with the forum .....weird that it is the same issues I complained about a year ago and was told there was nothing wrong....but also the sudden re-emergance of very very old threads tends to make me think that perhaps a little housekeeping is in order....huge databases that are never accessed are just gonna clog the whole thing up and when people insist on ploughing through all these old threads then of course the data streaming is going to be slow.

Forum problems:

If you've been having a bit of trouble accessing the forums lately then don't worry, you're not alone. Unfortunately, the server has been down because of excessive load spikes - I.E. too much traffic.
We're on it and hopefully normal service will be resumed presently - if it's not, you have our word that we will hunt down the internet monkeys responsible and force them to watch Andy Piper's home movie collection...

I knew that....my post did start "Right we now know that there is an issue with the forum" the rest of my post was more of a possible explanation ...switching servers would have been fixed in hours possibly 2 days but not for the length of time this has been a problem ;)

Well in that case Mark.... Fill out an application form send it to Matt and get yourself the web job..... cos you know it all so you might as well put it all to use :D

Maybe just maybe they are sorting it out right now?

But then you prob know that anyway!

Hmmm....i noticed that when the foum was down, the homepage was also down but i seem to remember one of the mods saying they were on separate servers. Now from the message they gave us on the homepage it looks like the server is geting DoS'ed, why not check your BW logs? That will let you see the IP of the culprit, then just reverse DNS it to find out the ISP and send an email to abuse@isphere.com(change as necessary) and they will sort it.

Sorting out any type of wannabe hacker shouldn't take more than half a day, i sorted one out 2-3 days ago and my server has been fine since.

The old threads are fine, until someone starts going back and getting the database to access uncached threads....then it starts to slow down :D

Im on 56k and find that it runs pretty quickly :)

Mother, is that you?
The bottom line (or so I'm told) is that we have to shift servers - we're about to be booted off the one were on cos we've got too much traffic. As you can imagine, we're a bit upset about this cos the new server is going to cost fkin millions a month - and we've got to work it out whether having these ******* boards on the site is worth paying the difference (it's not like we're making any money out of it is it sweethearts - in fact I've recently applied for charitable status).
