Howdy,

I'm considering purchasing a new paintball gun whilst in the states in the next 2-3 weeks. It's most likes going to have some kind of electrinic grip, possibly an AMG.

Now, I'm very concerned about the transportation of any type of marker from the States to England at the moment given the current political climate. I know that it is possible to check in your marker at the airport. But how do you check it in?

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't allow you to just shove it in your normal bag and away you go. Do you need to have it locked in some kind of seperate carry case and then ask for a firearms sticker and slap that on it or how should it be treated??

The last time I tried to fly with a standard marker (nothing electric) I was told that anything resembling a gun in my bag would automatically be stopped. Therefore I had to quickly remove it from my bag and get a relatvie to mail my marker from the states, but that's expensive and always the risk of customs nabbing it.

How do you travelling 'baller out there do it? Any advice on the specifics of how you would check in your marker at the airport would be greatly appreciated so I recieve as little hassle as possible from the clueless clerk who thinks my paintball marker is as dangerous as a bomb from Osama.

Thanks.

Phone the air line ahead and tell them you need to carry a compressed air powered marker i told them it was a competition model used for sport. , youll have to take the bottle off and not only empty it but show them it is empty, ie take the valve off is easiest. Then as long as it is in your hold baggage and you dont get it out and wave it around at the airport oyu should be ok. Take a copy of pgi to show them but remove the big game stuff with all those rambo wannabes with their ts1 s etc "i loike it cos it looks like a big gunn her her"

They stickered my bag up to hell with stuff like compressed air and firearm and fragile but it was all good.

Cheers guys, that's pretty re-assuring.

I'll be sure to follow your advice - I guess I was just gettin getting bit paranoid about the whole thing, after all I don't really fancy having $600 worth of paintball equipment confiscated at Dulles International airport only to be detained for an unconfirmed amount of time 4,500 miles away from home!! DOH!
