To be honest their isnt a problem unless you make one :)

Take ure air bottle off (Depressurised) and have a copy of PGI in the top of your bag. Dont mention anything and you wont have a problem.

Works for me :)

Keeping silent at check in works for me too.

If you mention it then you will have problems. The teams that went to Spain asked advice on here, and were advised by many people not to say anything, after all, the airlines will not know you have guns in the bags unless you tell them. The airline was then telephoned contrary to the advice on here and there were many problems for everyone who flew to Spain.

Moral of the story, dont say a word:)

with no barrel, a feed neck, a reg on the bottom of the gun, it doesnt really look like a gun, and its in the hold anyway, so not accessible by those in the cabin

I'd say let them know. Better to not go than have a law suit against you. Just declaire it and put all the gear in the cargo hold so you can't get to it. Thing is people not in the know about pball markers will automatically think that they are real and there will be an outcry!

Let the airline know and if necessary give them the specs and adhere to all their rules and regs about transportation. Can't sse the prob with that.

Thats my opinion anyway, if it don't work then I'll stay shtum next time!;)

I think what people are trying to say is that it didn't work last time... someone rang up the airline to "let them know" and they flatly refused to take them on board :(

I have another related question though - how do you make your kit bag distinctive, and distinguishable from the rest of the rolling kit bags as they come round the conveyors? I mean, carrying several thousand pounds worth of kit in one bag, and then getting it nicked accidentally by someone who mistook your bag for theirs... not my idea of fun!

Mazz, there are people on here with years of flying with their markers, and everybody is saying the same thing. Do not sy anything. People went about the same route as you propose last week to Spain and were open about it, and had lots of trouble. We flew to San Francisco the same day and didnt say a word and had no problem.

there will be no lawsuits, because there are no written down rules prohibiting the guns on the flights, therefore you are doing nothing wrong in taking them on board. Would you say that you had nail clippers in your suitcase? No, as they are a dangerous weapon, but not accessible once in flight.

I flew around 20 times in last year, and did not say anything anywhere, and did not have one problem.

If you tell them, you will have a load of grief. Listen to the people with experience and you will be fine. Those going to Spain didnt listen and paid the price

Oh, and Qp, Stickers.....lots and lots of Stickers. sponsor stickers, team name stickers, these work the best.;)

when ppl say dont say anything they mean dont ring the airline and ask ... we have never had a problem and have flown many times. all we do is when we get to the desk, and if the airport like stanstead has a xray for large holdalls/fragile stuff etc, we just tell the girl on the desk it needs to go through xray as we have sporting goods, and they have never said anything else, you wont have any problems, the problems only ever seem to occur when people phone up the airline for a valid reply.
