Flying paintball safety advisory warning

Anyone has any more info on the following warning? Its posted in the face-full website, but it does not have any more details:

“Most Airlines are now enforcing a new policy which will not allow compressed air/Co2 tanks on airplanes at all. Be sure to ship your tanks to your hotel prior to the event if you are flying. Be sure to call your hotel in advance and let them know that this package

Note to the mods: I started this topic here because air travel coserns everyone involved in Major League tournaments.

Hhhmmmm i wonder if this is the start of all the so called do gooders hassling the airlines by asking the can we take our markers on your flights and basically f**k it up for everyone else if its true it is so gonna p**s alot of people off:mad:

Tho i would ave thought that as long as the bottle was taken off the reg there would be no problems!!!

Yes but WKD is of the opinion that if no one made enquirys to the airlines it would be less likely that they would have a problem with markers, and people should just keep their heads down and take there chances.

But i agree with you and would not take the risk of getting my marker confiscated or have to pay extra with another airline when i could of just have checked and found which ones didn't have a problem.

Except if there's any truth to the first post, then it looks like there won't be any airlines left who don't have a problem...

'Do gooders'? It's people trying to have a problem free trip, for Christ's sake!
Errrmm it was problem free before all this

As as for Mr Hancock i guess we will just agree too disagree tho i am talking from experience and if your that worried about flying with your marker then drive there or go by ferry!!!! Cos im sure a few hundred people who do fly with their markers each year will be so happy if it is all shafted cos airlines wont take markers on their flights .
Tho just to add i thought that paintball markers had been down graded too a toy similar to that of bb guns in which case should there be a problem at all?????

I flown more times than The Red Baron and the best policy is to keep your gob shut and put a PGI on top of yer marker.
Always worked for me.
I know people have already said as much, I am just sticking me nose to give you an example of this policy actually working.
Taken from another thread about flying with markers
And im sure he knows what he is talking about ;)

What needs to happen is someone or a group of people needs to approach TSA in the US and each airline and get an official statement on the policy. Some TSA agents think it's ok as long as the reg is off, others think the markers need to be locked in a hard sided case and another group think that you can travel with any of it. I received 3 different answers from 3 different customer service reps at Delta. We ended up shipping our tanks to Tampa only to find out when we got to LAX that we could have put our tanks in our check in baggage.... I didn't ship mine back, I put it in my check in baggage, my locks were cut in the baggage hold, but everything was in my bag when it arrived in LA.

The problem with this whole issue is within the airline and amongst the different TSA agents there is no standard response. It's going to take an educated group to approach each agency and force each agency to publish a list of requirements. Then it's going to be a matter of time before the front line agents and the customer service reps are trained on what is allowed and what is not allowed.

In the meantime my team is getting a second set of tanks and leaving them on our sponsors trailer to bring to each event.

This is the same kinda thing as asking about filling DOT bottles at a Euro tournament. This is part of a post I made about that issue:

"...if you just keep quiet, dress decently and don't act wierd you're most likely not going to have a problem carrying paintball gear in your check-in baggage.

If you force peepz ta make a public declaration they'll simply take the safe way and cover there azzes.

Thatz prolly why NPPL made their declarations about having bottles sent by freight; to cover themselves."

I flew with bottles in Europe about three times last year and back with no problem. I flew between US and Europe four times without a glitch and every time found the TSA tag inside my bags when I arrived.

Best to keep quiet.
