'm looking at picking up a reliable, cheap to run marker for recball, so i don't have to shell out for masses and masses of paint everytime i go down to the woods (Student)...

'm probably going to go with a Tippman 98, run off air, and i was wondering which barrel you guys would recomend to make it more accurate? A Flatline or a long All American with a freak kit (i already have the full set of inserts for my Tourney marker so it shouldn't be too expensive to just get the barrel parts)?

Yer but also he asked about barrels...

Erm for rec-ball its abit of either really...

flatlines are really good for accuray and out distance the freak/all american anyday... however the people i know with them have trouble as they can be very picy with paint etc. so its up to you really

Personally would be the freak/all american

flatlines suck at accuracy but good for distance
all american ok for accuracy, same distance as any other barrel (not including flatline or apex)
i would suggest a lucky un1tec barrel, they are lovely, and damn light

as robbo said though the main factor regarding accuracy is the quality of the paint

Yer but also he asked about barrels...
Ion, yes he did and that's exactly why I answered him in the way I did.........Ion, let me give you some information mate re the manufacture of barrels.
As far as I know, these barrels, stock or not, are made on high volume centre lathes that are generally accurate to tolerances of under a thou .....OK, that said, paintballs are manufactured with a significantly less accurate tolerance bandwidth, something approaching + or - 40 thou I would guess, or even more.

If you have any working knowledge of ballistics then you will know that the difference in barrel performance (in terms of accuracy) is negligible and therefore the MOST important (by far) factor when determining the accuracy of firing a paintball is the paint itself (all other factors being equal).

And this is why I answered in the way I did, I hope you now understand that my reply was wholly relevant and wholly justified.
