Hotels: There's a enormous number of hotels in London. Spend some time on the net, and you should be able to locate a few nice ones.
Shops: Can't help you there.
DVD's: Most of the big cd/dvd stores on Oxford Street, like Virgin and HMV are surprisingly well stocked. Have a look in there.

thanks man,

btw: anyone know how far away the smartparts store is located?
It's about a half hour journey on the mainline train from Charing Cross, central london.
Go to Bexley (not Bexelyheath) from Charing Cross and when ya get there, call 01322 555968 for final directions and it's a two minute walk from the station :)
Easy peasy !

Buddha is right - the Virgin Megastore is on Oxford Street ... if your after directions, maps and the like go to www.multimap.co.uk

If your after Vinyl or anything a bit more alternative try Covent Garden, Soho and Camden

In terms of a place to stay - are you after Hotels/Hostels/brothels/street corners?

You have to remember that London aint Cheap. I know of a couple of nice hotels in the City that my company recommends but their not exactly dirt cheap.

vinyl shopping....

If you want vinyl, I would seriously reccommend going to Chocci's Chewns in Covent Garden. Fantastic place and Chocci always goes out of his way to get you the best new choons in trance and other more weird stuff.

However, for hard house and the harder things in dance, I'd say you have to go to Kinetec Records in Little Portland St. Nearest tube is Oxford St and it is very much worth a visit. I tend not to go there that much these days because every time I visit, I end up losing two or more hours there and spending about 130 quid on records. Oh, and I fell asleep on their sofa once too.

DVDs etc... beware! CDs and DVDs are expensive in the UK. I'd be more inclined to get them off the net from Amazon.co.uk or from people in the US (Assuming that you have a way in and your player takes Region 1).

Also, there is a very nice little Swiss eatery round the corner from Choccies (Wardour St. I think) that is worth a visit and if you are really stuck for a place to stay, a Travel Inn will only cost you about 40 notes a night. They are comfy and they are clean and that is usually enough.

dunno about the places to stay bit but i have brought a few cds/dvds in my time(as anyone who knows me soon finds out) but i really wouldn't go to oxford street for this stuff, yep HMV and Virgin are well stocked but the also are possibly the most expensive shops in the world! really use as a last resort, unless youre loaded then go for your life ;)
for cd's I go to soho, theres a few shops in a row which are generally cool, like Sister Ray and select-a-disc(sorry can't remember the road name, but its the one on the Ian Brown video for FEAR,help people?) or i go to camden. but to be honest i use the net(i object to paying over a tenner for a cd)
now for DVDs i go to China town, theres a lot of region 3 stuff there which is cool. and like a million VCDs which i haven't a clue what they are coz they have loads of Chinese writing all over them.there is also the cinema store but they rip you off more than virgin will!

mail me and i'll try to mail you addresses if you want.

I assume u know the cheapest way to travel around?? a travelcard (one day/weekend/weekly etc) is the cheapest. You can use all tubes, trains & busses within the zones you choose. Available from newsagents, BR stations & Underground stations. Work out which zones you will need before you buy. Only restrictions on a one day are no travel before 9.30am. Also usable on night busses. The ticket inspectors are **** hot at present so its not worth avoiding £4 a day for a £50 plus fine! Not suggesting you were thinking along those lins of course..most honourable p8ntballer!!

Wookie: im not down with that house/techno thing. hehe. im more of a indie rawker. or some psychadelic pop ala the late 60's.

DVD's: (worst case scenario) How much for a DVD at Virgin? In Norway the range goes from 15 £ - 30 £. (norwegian versions, not import). I want import (english versions/US)... but the prices are f___n sick here. I once saw Boogie Nights (US versions) selling close to 60 £ (!!).

Robbo said its about a half hour ride with train, to get to smart parts. What would a ride like this cost?

Off topic: Good luck lads.. against Sweden in the WC.

Im not sure at the moment..which side I am on
