Hi Everyone, complete newbie to the sport, have played a couple of times through Paintball days in my local area, but im now wanting to take it more seriously and get my own gear.

What im wanting out of my marker is to be able to almost fully customise it into a sniper rifle, i want it to have a long range once customised, needs to be semi automatic rather than fully automatic.

Ive been looking at the tippmann 98 and A5 at the moment, for the obvious reason of being a sniper it will need to either come with a side hopper/cyclone feed so that i can have a scope on the top. My Budget for this without customisation is about £150 for the basic marker.

What other kit is also a necessary on just a basic kit budget.

Thank you in Advance

Doesn't matter what you do to your gun a paintball will travel the same distance no matter what gun you use.

The exception to this is an Apex, or flatline barrel which will give you range by adding backspin, but you will have little chance of actually hitting anything.

As for a scope, save your cash and buy more paint. Seriously.

i wouldnt be using the scope for games, it would just be for target practice, whats the average range out of interest?

Dunno, max range with a bit of barrel elevation approx 300 feet. Expect no accuracy though.

Accurate range with good paint, ball on ball i'd guess 75 ft, beginning to spread out after that.

its important to understand that with milsim style markers its purely cosmetic, just because you want it to look like a sniper rifle doesnt mean your going to get that out of it. and no matter how good it seems in your head the speed that paintballs travel and how temperate they are due to weather etc, theres no point in getting ideas about shooting people out at super long ranges.

by all means go for the look you want but dont go overboard with buying things like expensive scopes and stuff, as it is just for looks. also consider the Q-loader as well as side hoppers and cyclones?
you would be as well buying a nice wee shroud kit or something to get a cool look and like Dusty says, spend the rest
on paint.

Just for some background reading (because theres no way your getting one on £150 budget) have a look at tiberius arms rifles, they use first strike rounds which have amazing range and accuracy, so you might actually find a use for the scope on one of them :p
