I'm looking to buy a decent marker for both tournament and recreational use. But it has to be reasonably cheap.... not like Angel prices. And does anyone know any British/European online paintball stores that i could but it off??

Thanx

Best thing for both rec and tourney is a second hand marker from these pages on the internet, Check out the classifieds.

Either an Impulse (my choice)

or a Cocker

all starter packs are great for rec but tourney you might fall down.

good luck

for stores try:
www.planeteclipse.com
or www.smartpartseurope.com
should find a few markers there if you wanna buy new.
or you could get second hand. best thing to do there is check out your local site and see when a walk-on is going on. pop down and check it out. there you should find a load of people with markers up for grabs(or know people who have) and if you ask nicely they might even let you have a go with them.i would recommend to check out a walk on anyway, there'll be different players on different budgets and different experiences.and it's a good place to get info.
with second hand stuff you might get the whole kit ie hopper air/co2 system+bottles, barrels and prob a few spares and goodles(pods, bag) remember when buying new this stuff doesn't come with the marker(unless its a package deal thing)
hope this helps. the golden rule is try before you buy. find a marker you like and are happy with.

Desisions, desisions what gun to get???

Last year I decided to buy my first marker (after nearly ten years of playing and now I have two lol) and if you are going to buy your own gear you need to decide what your after!!

If you only play occasionally and want to keep up with the big-boyz i would recommend either a Kingman spyder or a PMI piranha, as they are a resonable price and come in a variety of options to suit most pockets. also if after a while you want to upgrade to a better marker you can also upgrade with after market parts to breath new life into the old Dog!! (I went for a Spyder Xtra)
Planet eclipse have got some shop soiled spyder sonix for £98.
My m8 got one last month and the only thing wrong with it was it didn't come in its proper box and was missing the bag of spares ( 3 o-rings and a hex key!!)

If you need something a little better from the offset the go for something like an autococker. there is a hike in price but also a hike in complexity to the marker. the only problem with owning something like this is that you get a lot of whining from other players, if you play wooded games, because you have a better marker then their rental :p

Steer well clear of angels and impulses as they cost the earth and some sites won't allow them.

websites gun

ok im about as big a newbie as you so everyone correct me if im wrong. Im kinda broke, so whenever i spend money on paintballing i check into what im paying for. My experiencs after being in many forums and at even more paintball sites is that your better off getting a second had automag then getting a piranha or spyder. Automag is kinda the step between a spyder and an autococker. Mags and be upgraded almost unlimitedly, but when you get into high level apintballing spyders and piranhas just wont cut it. Websites? I posted that question a little while ago to find websites and compare prices, its like the 5th thread down er something. Theres some nice sites on there personally i like xpaintball.com. Not a very well known site, kinda unprofessional, but it will get you a good deal. Hope that helps.

~¤ô§ I swear life is out to get me. mowing people down with a paintball gun is the closest to revenge i can get§ô¤~

Steps between a Spyder and an Autococker are to be avoided at all costs--they accomplish nothing but waste your money. If you're not buying an entry level such as a Spyder or Piranha, get a Cocker or Bushy or Impulse as they allow for much more room for growth as a player and can serve you for a much longer time than an upgraded spyder or a Mag. I fell into the Automag trap and lost $300 in resale value in less than 6 months and was humiliated when I could have gotten better performance out of a Cocker or Impulse which I could have bought at the same time for less money. I don't think you want that happening it to you.

That's what I mean. Get it second hand and you're in good shape...it just sucks to be the person selling one. In fact very few paintguns don't come up as a big loss on depreciation, to the point that it's painful to sell them and really not something you want to do in most cases anyway. A Mag is a great stepping stone provided it is clearly understood to be that and nothing more. However, you lose a bit of familiarity with your equipment by buying something that you intend to switch out of more than once: you get your experience in with a gun which serves you in your later, bigger, more competitive games. It's far better to be playing the tougher games with something you're more familiar with than something foreign. You'd be best in that case to play slightly lower competition level games with a new gun, but then by doing so you'd be losing time. Life is short and opportunities for advancement narrow, so in light of that I'm just suggesting that you get something closer to what you're likely to use later on, which if you're going any kind of distance with it a Mag likely won't be part of that.
