Hi,

Really got the paintball bug after a couple of days at a local centre and think its something I really want to get into... I think I'm pretty competitive so would like to start playing sup air / tournament but also like the idea of woods play for rec games...

Is there a good starter marker that would allow me to get into sup air as well as still being able to play at walk ons?

The "invert mini" or "planet eclipse Etha" will do anything you need, depending on your budget you can get really good second hand geo2 or empire axe which again are both excellent markers a little better than mini/Etha

Thanks for the response donk, I notice that a lot of second hand gear seems to be mentioned on here, is there a lot to worry about with second hand markers? Or are they pretty hard wearing? I'd had a few looks at the etha already and it looks good!

Mostly they are as good as new but you get one or two bad examples, generally speaking if you click a guys profile & look at the convis it will give you an insight as to how long they have been on here, if you are unsure of anything ask for a vouch. Most uk ballers that use the forum know each other & will even let you test a gun at an event prior to purchase

The invert mini is a great marker, works in the woods and on the tourney field. However, as said above if your budget is a little higher then possibly think about higher end guns, because if your going to be playing tourney then as you get better you're going to need a better marker eventually...

At the end of the day it's really up to which marker feels right for you so the best thing to do would be to go to a walk on and ask whether someone will let you try out theirs, or go to your local shop and ask to hold some of the guns - This way you know exactly what your choices are and you know what you're getting before you buy :)

I had the same thought but i got a ego 9 last week and looks and shoots beautifully. People on here are usually genuine. And the etha is a great new marker. It was my first and is simple to use and simple to clean etc. With the ability to leep up with much higher end markers.

Thanks for the pointers! Lots of great advice, good to know that if/when I do decide to get an upgrade there is a good resale market too!

Now I just need to find somewhere to play around the North West!!

I'm just starting out myself, in the North-West, ordered a Proto Rail 2011 for my first marker. I'll be trying it out at a walk on a week on Sunday at Outpost Paintball, Kinnerton near Chester if you're looking for a place to go to check out some markers...

Ill prob upgrade my marker this next year. Not sure what to yet as everything changes so fast. But everyone starts off low end and builds up when / if they want to do more inc. tournies. Lots of choice about and plenty of reviews about online so you can make a good choice from semi or pro players

Hi people I'm new on here and to the paintball scene, I have played a number of times and now I'm looking to get myself a nice little secondhand set up. Could anybody recommend which is better and easier to maintain between and EGO or a DYE marker
