I haven't played since 1997, just lost interest in the sport, and last year I went to a local site with some guys from work and had two games but didn't really get the bug, but I spend quite a lot of time in the states (florida) and went to watch the PSP thang and was engrossed in it, so when I came back to the UK I decided I was going to buy some stuff and ended up with 2 sets of I4's, an angel, a karnivorve (which I think I would actually leave my missus for it's that good looking), some blue marker that I have no idea what it is, an ego (don't ask me the type, it's an ego that's all I know) some dye pants and tops, a halo and a pot holder, oh and two air bottles.
I booked a game and took 10 of my employees to a local site, we were there with another group of what was meant to be 12 but turned out to be 2, I asked the site owner if I could use my own marker and he said no probs as long as I chronoed them, he then said I couldn't use the ego ( I was glad as it confuses me), so I filled up my bottles then put the karnivore over the chrono, it was a nice consistant 240 fps and numb nuts here who is used to an autococker didn't know turn it up, so I just used it as is, first game we were divided up as odds and evens, my team consisted of myself, my son who is 9, two girls of 16 and 17 who work reception for me and one of the other guys who turned up, we were up against 6 of my employees and the other guy from the group of 2.
So the whistle goes and I try and run out but stop and tell my son to come with me, the other 3 (yeah we had 5 they had 7)
all run to the same barricade and hide behind it, at this point I realise I'm not playing with my old teammates and really should have asked where everyone was going, so we get halfway down the field and I see one guy and shoot him with my sexy karnivore shooting at 240 fps I then call my son to come with me and we move to where the guy was I just shot, my son has already shot 200 balls from his hopper and asks dad to fill him up. he says he shot the man I just did, but as his marker is at a constant 45 degree angle I'm dubious on this, we see no one so move up to a hut and then can see all 6 of the other team with their backs to us just shooting the 3 of my team behind the barricade, so I tell my son to just stand in front of me and shot the people I am pointing at, I shoot all 6 in the back, and my son claims everyone of them.
So all well and good there I think I'm invincible and still have it from way back when. we play another game which goes roughly the same apart from this time my son actually DID shoot someone, ME, about 20 times in the back.
So back to the safe zone and I ask the marshall to fill up my bottle, which he does, but I didn't turn off the turny thing on the bottom of my grip, so the front regulator thing leaks out of the little tiny hole , sorry for being all technical and shizz, that's just the way I roll.
so for the next 8 games I use a site gun, some tippman type thing which after using mine seems like some sort of high powered canon, I actually got shot about 3 times during the day (unless you count my son shooting me) which was at least once per game , normally after we were walking back.
So now I have the bug again properly this time, I'm wanting to go quite regularly and I can't wait to actually one day try the psp type thang,.
So any ideas where I can play regularly? I see there's a walk on day at holmbush each month, any ideas of other venues.
Want to try and see if I can still hack it against others before I go out and do something stupid like want to get back into tournament play, talking of which, is there a league for old timers like myself (46) I really couldn't hack it against teenagers and young whippersnappers like I see on the PSP and Millenium events.
