OK with alot of new films being released in the UK just recently. I thought I would do a quick round up of 2 that I've seen. I also wondering what people were most looking forward to in 2008?

AVP Requiem - Amazing if you love the previous Predator and Alien films then this is one is for you. They have taken the film concept back to its roots with a film that would resemble something from the first predator films. The Predalien creature is definately a highlight to see. Also the gadgetry of Predator is vast in collection.

All in all a good film to catch for the action film seekers.

Cloverfield - A film I was doubting watching, but I was presently surprised and astounded at how well this film managed to grip me from start to finish. The visuals are all conducted on a hand held camera which creates a sense of the pov from the camera operator. The work that JJ Abraham has done with this film is mental, the sets are lush and epic in porportion. The acting is second to none for saying its an 'unheard of' cast.

If you want to see a film that will leaving you asking lots of questions then Cloverfields for you.

Films I'm looking forward too are;

Rambo - The advert alone makes me want to watch it again and again.

Sweeney Todd - Apparently too much singing in it but the story lines a cracker.

Walk tall? - The one with the Johnny Cash esque character doing a documentary.

I'm sure theres others but I cant remember right now.

I watched cloverfield last night and was pretty bored inbetween any of the action. I just felt the whole camera in hand thing didn't work too well, and the open ended nature of the film makes it too confusing for most people. there's a bit at the end which helps out a bit, but you miss it, you'd never know. and its seriously difficult to see unless you know about it.
Sweeney Todd is a good film, but that's about it. Kept me entertained.
AVP is funny as fook, so many killings, I kept bursting out laughing at them as it's just so obscene.

Waiting for Rambo as it has more killings in it than any other rambo before, so it blatently going to be stupidly stupid!

Cloverfield was abit meh for me, was good, but could've been better.
The ending was toooooo open, then again, its made by JJ Abrahms, the guy who makes Lost, so theres no suprise there.
Avp2 was cool, but some people slated it, sadly, I thought it was good though, but the lady at the end though, Jesus, she had like hax_unlimited_ammo 1 on or something, she just never needed to reload?!

Meh, It was boring, not true to any of the original concepts, not true to the concept of the Alien vs Predator comic. An action flick that you will forget about by the time you're outside the cinema lighting up the cigarette.

Yes, like we don't get that too often... Lost anyone? Or maybe the once worshipped The Blair Witch Project? Kudos to the makers though, they have finally made the next step in holywood movie making: Production cost sames as marketing if I recall correctly...

Rambo - a whopping 2.5 dead people per minute. 'Nuff said.

Sweeney Todd - is it just my imagination or is Depp specializing in grown up emo charactars?

You probably mean Walk Hard - The Dewey Cox Story.

went to see cloverfeild the other day, personally thought it was awesome, well made, liking the hand held camera effect, like blair witch but the camra is a bit more all over the shop in the action scenes but i thought it added to the effect, and in the cinema its like you are actually there, action scenes where v good, the monster things where quite cool well presented, realistic and i liked the fact they wernt in your face all the time, but could have done witha tad more in there. loved that the camera kept snaping back to the original tape, sorta gave a bit of background to why the main guy dose what he dose, nice touch. ending, well any other ending would have been sh!t wont give anything away but anything eles would have just ruined the whole film without doubt, pluse it leaves it open to some kinda sequel from carring on from that point or it has been said that they are gona do the same thing but from a differnt point of view.

girlfriend said it was kinda hard to follow etc, but i was blown away but can see why people wouldnt like it, think its a must see in the cinema you just wouldnt get the same effect if you watch it on dvd or ripped of the net.

but meh everyones a critic:rolleyes:

sweeny todd is meant to be a musical but in film as it were - so of course there is going to be singing, i think this is why people dislike it, they expect it to be a film - as in talking but its just a modern film of the musical, as it were.

cant wait to see it. love musicals, specially the soundtracks. LES MISERABLES ftw

I really liked Sweeny Todd

Once you accept its a musical it becomes a good movie in my opinon.

AVP 2 - thought this was pretty good, got a bit boring and was hard to work out who was wining out of the Hybrid and the preditor.

Both good though, would watch them again.

Question, did it make you feel ill? With the camera moving all the time? I went to see Miami vice and the camera was a tiny bit shakey and it did my head in, maybe I should avoid this film for fear of film rage.
