fill nipple issue

i borrowed my bottle to a mate(which wont be happing again) and the small disc located inside the fill nipple is pushed in.

What does this mean?? and Can it be fixed??

Located in the fill nipple is not a disc. It is called a check strutt, cylinder shaped , and has a small o'ring place near the end of it to seal the air from escaping out the nipple.

When filling, the higher input pressure will push the check strutt inwards, filling the bottle up with pressure. Once you stopped filling, disconnect from the filling station, the pressure inside the bottle will push and seal the little o'ring against the inside wall of the fill nipple.

If there is zero pressure inside the bottle, the check strutt can move around inside the fill nipple.

It does need some pressure to move, next time you fill up, fill to 100psi or so disconnect and check it, it should be fine

Without knowing what exactly your friend has done, i would have suggest you take the fill nipple off and investigate, but you dont sound very confident with this, otherwise you would'nt have posted up.

With the bottle having zero pressure, the check strutt could just be sitting back, but like i said, we do not know what your friend has done.

If its just the case of not having any pressure in the bottle, then you can just fill up with a small amount of air to test , ie..300-500psi would be sufficient , and see if the check strutt will hold the air once you disconnect the air fill.

It's nothing to worry about bro, either it'll loosen up the second you put pressure in it, or if it doesn't all you need to do is remove the fill nipple and give the oring a quick clean or replace if necessary.
