I'd like to hear some ideas for rec play that go beyond the traditional flag capture/two flag capture/total elimination games.
I've tried several and have found them not only fun, but interesting ways to improve my game. One game I play fairly often is center flag/limited paint/regeneration.
Each player starts with 30 balls in the hopper. The game is over when the center flag is pulled. Anyone who is shot out runs back to the starting point and instantly regenerates. This type of play forces players to move instead of hunkering down and shooting, and it also helps with timing since you have to make that flag pull at the right time or you'll be faced with regenerating opponents.
This past weekend I came up with another interesting set-up. My local field has both woods and speedball type fields. We put a flag in the center of the woods field. The game would continue until one team pulled the flag and ran it to the adjacent speedball field's flag station. Players regenerated at the starting points on the woods field. It was a lot of fun, and a welcome break from the same ol' game.
Don't get me wrong, I like the standard games of paintball, but it's always fun to mix things up.
Ideas?
