Paintball Markers in the UK are classified as Airguns under the terms of the Firearms Acts 1968-1997 and therefore need no License or other legal documentation

Are they saying this "official purpose test, specified purpose test, specified person test or police authorisation test" should be obtained from UK authorities because if so you should tell them that as Airguns they don't need any such paperwork over here. However I know Aussie Firearms rules are different in each state and Paintball is banned in some of them

If not from the UK authorities do they say you should have obtained these "tests" from the Australian High Commision in London?

I'll do my best to help but I need to know exactly what they are talking about because i've never heard of this happening before

The following information has been obtained from various sources, both official and unofficial. This information should be taken as a guide only, as laws and regulations may change at any time. It is vital that you confirm any information with your local firearms registry first before you act on it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laws State by State
State Legal Minimum Age Marker Ownership More Information
NSW Yes 18 Pump Only More Info
QLD Yes 15 Pump/Semi More Info
Vic Yes (note-1) (note-4) Pump/Semi More Info
SA Yes 14 (note-2) Pump/Semi More Info
WA No 18 (note-3) No More Info
ACT Yes 18 ? More Info
NT No N/A No More Info
TAS No N/A No More Info

Notes
Note-1 - In Victoria you must have a valid firearms licence to play paintball
Note-2 - With parental Consent.
Note-3 - Since Paintball is illegal anyway in WA there is no official limit, however most fields there enforce a 18 yrs and over policy.
Note-4 - Under 18's can play if they have a Junior Firearms License.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Further Information
NSW
In New South Wales you must be 18 years of age to play. You may only play paintball at an approved paintball field.

You may purchase your own pump action paintball marker. Semis are not allowed for private ownership. To own a paintball marker you must apply for a permit to own a pump action paintball gun from the firearms registry. You must then apply for a permit to purchase the gun. You must also abide by all NSW firearms requirements in regards to storage of the marker.

Semis are only permitted on an existing field permit and then only if listed on that permit before the laws changed. New fields cannot get a semi permit. For further information see NSW government vs Paintball.

QLD
Queensland is one of the two paintball friendly states. To purchase a paintball marker you must have a current firearms licence and apply for a permit to purchase. The paintball marker you are intending on purchasing must be currently registered either in QLD or any other state. QLD will not register unregistered semis.

SA
South Australia is one of the two paintball friendly states. To purchase a paintball marker you must have a current firearms licence and apply for a permit to purchase. South Australia will register unregistered semis if needed.

Vic
To play paintball in Victoria, you person must have a current shooters permit, because you are discharging a firearm.

To own a paintball marker you must be 18, have a shooters permit, then apply for a permit to purchase, once that has been accepted, a local district firearms inspector will come to where you intend on keeping the paintball marker to make sure that it kept in an appropriate safety cabinet. A paintball marker can not be fired anywhere except a registered paintball field.

For further information see Victorian Government VS Paintball.

WA
Paintball is currently Illegal in Western Australia at present, however this has not stopped quite a number of fields operating in WA (See the Australian Paintball Field Directory for a listing of WA fields).

TAS
For a short period in the early 90's Paintball was legal in Tasmania, with a field in operation. When this field closed down, the status of Paintball was changed.
Attempts were being made to have Paintball legalised in Tasmania again, and to open a commercial field when the Port Arthur incident occured. After this, and the sensitivity of the Tasmanian government to anything remotely resembling a gun, it is highly unlikely that Paintball will be legalised in Tasmania for quite some time to come.

ACT
I have very limited information on Australian Capital Territory Paintball regulations at present. If anyone has any information I would be grateful if you would pass it on to me.

NT
Here we have a straight cut and paste From the
