Sorry Hatts i think the whole idea of the PA League and the Fantasy Paintball TM are great ideas did wanna play in it but the team manager had committed elsewhere however these are good ideas but i don't think the points scoring system for the Fantasy Paintball TM is good :

Hanging a flag successfully
3 points (individual)

Successfully remaining live on the field at the end of a game
2 points (individual)

Winning a game with a clean sheet, ie zero losses
4 points (whole team*)

Conceding a flag hang
-1 point (whole team*)

Picking up penalty points
-1 point (individual)

Being red carded, ie the Sosta Law
-4 points (individual)

My main gripe is with the flag hanging points and the remaining alive on the field :(
Everyone on the team will want to hang the flag to get themselves higher on the scoreboard and no-one will be willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of the team as they will want the points for staying alive.

We have a move on our team that we use from time to time when we send 4 players off the break on run throughs and the other 3 players moving slower up the field picking off anyone the 4 have missed every time we do it we lose all 4 players but the team were up against is in that much dissary that the 3 players find no resistance in finishing off the game, its our 'Kamikazzee run' (goes well with our team name) with the points scored the way they are i think our 4 players would be reluctant to do that.

As i say i think everything you are doing is a great idea and great for the sport and no im not involved in it, i don't have an idea for how to change it but i personnally don't like the points system for Fantasy Paintball TM. :)

having refereed at the last leg of the pa i didnt really notaice anyone 'going for glory' or anything....the teams just got on with the game....

speaking as a team member.....if members of your team are more arsed about fantasy league points than winning the game then they should get a talking to and be told to give their heads a wobble :D

I agree with Jahlad, and that if your team mates are more concerned with the fantasy league points then they have their priorities wrong.

I for one am not really bothered about how many points i have, i'm more concerned with winning games

I feel front players get done in the pa points, a front player may shoot out all 7 players and get hit and he would get nothing.. Though it would be difficult to work out who shot who, that would be the only reel way to do fantasy league points properly.

Hmmm. Looking at the points from the first leg, the top scoring back got 28 points, the top scoring mid got 28 points and the top scoring front got 26 points. Not exactly enough of a differential to be statistically meaningful is it?!
Ignoring penalty points (all positions as likely or unlikely to get them), the main difference between likely scoring of fronts and backs is flag hangs and remaining alive. Yes, more backs are slightly more likely to be alive at the end of the game (2 points)but if anything fronts are slightly more likely to get flag hangs (3 points).
Anyway the main point of the Fantasy Paintball is for the Fantasy Team Managers, who can only select a maximum of 3 players from each position for their squads.

and I fully agree too! Guys, the Fantasy Paintball is a bit of fun...that's it...nothing more...it's based loosely on the Fantasy Football system which has been around for years....if you've never played Fantasy Football then take a look. You'll find that's geared towards certain types of players scoring more points than anyone else, but you don't see Man Utd sending their goalie on a pitch length run to try and score goals do you?

As far as I'm aware not one player I know of messed around with a game because of FP points...we're trying to promote professionalism in the sport and I know if I had a player who started dicking around like that he'd be off the team pronto...

It really doesn't matter what points system we use...someone won't like it...but if everyone is using the same system then it's fair. But please, please, please do not lose sight of the fact that it's a bit of fun.

The points system has nothing at all to do with the tournament or teams, it purely for Fantasy managers. You'll also notice that the Backs, Mids & Fronts are not competeing against each other on the same team, they're actually competeing against other players in the same position across all the teams...which is why there's 3 seperate tables and a prize for the highest scoring player in each position :)

At the end of the day, the only thing I canm say is, if you don't like it, don't play...but then you can't win 500 quid either :)

I have no interest at all in the racking up points in the fantasy league. If it is necessary for me to hang the flag then i will, otherwise i will pass the honor to a team mate.
