What do y'all think about the possibility of a full-blown pro X Ball league put on by Millennium in Europe? And what I mean is a super-pro series to mirror NXL No decisions (that I know of) have been made yet but I would like to get some feedback and gather information on the possibilites.

Should X Ball games run a day or so before 7-player or concurrently with 7-player?

Should we run an open X Ball tournament (division X Ball) alongside it to let teams try it out and practice it and be a feeder for the EXL?

Should we continue to use national teams (that's what I think is best) or just have team names like in 7-player?

Which teams or nations would be interested?

Which teams or nations would be able to participate?

What kind of paint sponsorships would be necessary and is it realistically possible to get that kind of sponsorshipd in Europe?

All reasonable comments and suggestions are invited.

Should run at the same time as the 7 man event

No open Division. Should be the cream of the crop

No Countries....... see above

Teams that would enter are the ones with sposorship package's and or cash!

Sponsorship..... mmmmmm wuld have to say loads of bullets (oops sorry) Paint, and cash to buy the franchise. Which would have to be decided on.

Reasonable answers I feel.

Good so far.

Concerning national teams: what if we use national names but have single teams that make up the teams with the national names? In my opinion nations are the equivalent of American cities from a visibility standpoint and bring a lot of positive dynamics to the scene.

Those informed realize that Oakland Assassins were Bob Long's Ironmen just a few months ago and that NY Xtreme was Ground Zero. If there were a Team Denmark in the EXL there's no reason it couldn't really be the Ugly Ducklings under another name.

Remember that one of the big purposes of such a venture would be to promote PB to the public and to the media. I don't think Ugly Ducklings, Nexus, Joy Division, Mayhem Tigers, Shockwave and such names would sell so well (although Russian Legion sounds great).

I'm not totally inflexible in my opinion about this but I really think national names have a great, natural appeal just like it does in some of the football leagues, hockey leagues and in the Olympics.

Pipes, I hope you understand that division X Ball would be like they've had at the PSP events where teams have a chance to play X Ball to see if they like it, develop their skills and maybe some day get into the big league. There's got to be a system for teams to work their way to the top and if X Ball is as fun as I think it is to play there's got to be a way for those that aren't elite yet to try it without having to travel to America.

i vote for city names, London whatever, Manchester wotsits, and the Paris thingys, instead of countries.

but, will the exl over shaddow the 7 man event. will promoters be prepared to make 7 man the side show for the exl?

TEams and names based on countries would be IMHO not a very good idea. There are some countries in Europe who would easily be able to put out 2-3 X-Ball teams, UK for example, so who would get the "England" or "UK" name?

Again, this discussion is purely theoretical. I know of no decisions that have been made yet. But I think it is important that how peeps feel and think is aired and considered so the gnomes can consider it if they want to.

So I don't know how it MIGHT be organized or about possible franchises. How do y'all think it should be organized.

So far I haven't read a good argument against the market appeal of national teams.

Just guessing, I think we would be doing good to get 8 teams. Therefore I'm not so sure that the UK would automatically be able to field more than one team.

As for the venerable names such as Ugly Ducklings, I don't think that is any better argument than the All Americans or Bob's Men keeping their names. They didn't for the greater marketing cause.

If EXL were to happen the league and the potential participants would have to collectively decide what would be best for selling it to the public. The teams themselves couldn't alone decide that issue.

The question is, what would be best for such a league. Maybe cities would be good, maybe nations, maybe just teams. I don't know but right now you know where I stand.

1--not good examples, Steve-O. All A's to Philly A's? And Bob's boys changed their name finally due to those other Ironmen, didn't they? And NYX was gonna change from Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9-11 anyway. And, all these teams are attached to cities. So--seems to me how the EXL might be marketed has got to stand on its own unique merits--not on what somebody else is doing to a certain extent. Oui?
2--Since this is all hypothetical just who and what might the league be if it ain't the collection of teams making it up?

The point I so miserably failed to make is that (if this happens) each individual team isn't going to decide the name format. It can't be Team Sweden plus Copenhagen Ugly Ducklings plus Nexus, etc, etc. The point with looking at NXL was that they all changed their names to include cities because the teams and the people that organized the league thought that the best way to market in America. And I agree that we should do what is collectively best for the promotion of the league in our unique situation here in Europe.
