EXL - not truly double elimination

After checking out the schedule/seeding for Paris EXL - it has become obvious that, while we are playing a double elimination tournament - it is only 99% correct.

In a TRUE double elim set-up - the "loser champion" (the team that makes it to the final games after losing one game) is required to beat the "winning champion" (the team that hasn't lost a game at all) TWICE.

The reasoning is - the winning champ has not lost any games, and by declaring the "losing champion" tournament winner if they beat the "winning champ" in the first game - you now have 2 teams that have only lost 1 game each - so neither should technically be out of the tournament.

Any thoughts??

I understand what you are getting at, and based on LA, I'm sure the Naughty Dogs agree with you. But you need to think of double elimination as a way of determining who plays the championship match, not who wins the tournament. The same way the prelims in 7-man determine who moves on to Sunday, not who wins the tournament (unless you are playing the 2004 Open de Catalunya in Tossa de Mar). :p

I agree. After you play your EXL matches in the NXL format and there is no winner for the event, you can all hold hands while dancing in circles.
