I know that this might be a dumb question, but i just play with CO2, so i really dont pay attention to Nitro stuff, but Is Nitrogen the same as Compressed Air? I always hear people talk about the two as if they were one. Sorry for the basic question, nothing difficult..

I'll one up you crooked ...

Compressed air is Nitrogen because Air (the stuff you breath) is almost all Nitrogen. That stuff is then compressed to 3000 or 4500 psi (depending oon your bottle). Hence compressed air. which is in turn, nitrogen.

I am so smart I am so smart everybody loves me cuz I cam so smart S-M-R-T S-M-R-T I am So smart.

it doesn't quite have the same effect ... or is it affect ... (I'm confused) when typed ... ok, I'm done ...

Not quite the same thing. Air is around 80% nitrogen, with near enough all the rest being Oxygen. This is quite an important distinction if you use a titanium barrel as apparently pure Nitrogen reacts with the titantium & while the pretty sparking effects when you fire looks good, eventually it will damage the inside of the barrel.
And I wouldn't recommend breathing pure N2 rather than air:D

They are still different gasses but yes, they BEHAVE the same in a paintball marker and are therefore interchangable.

unless you're in the UK, in which case the law says you can't use pure nitrogen. Which is a pain as it is even cleaner and more consistant than just plain ole air.

Not that it stops anybody mind ;)

And saying that, I'm sure I heard somewhere that technically it's illegal to use CO2, as you're not allowed to vent it off because it's an asphyxiant. Or something.

i think it's only illegal if you don't use it in a properly sanctioned area. E.g outside cause then it just floats off. at least i think that's it. i was so bored i read the site rules on CO2 and Compressed air. I love my job
