Hi guys
I am new to the hobby and have been playing with a Tippmann a5 for the last month but am looking to upgrade. I am looking at getting ether an Etha or E TEK 3 lt and would love some advise please :)??

If your budget can extend the extra amount i would really recommend getting the etek 3.

I've been using my etek for the last year and i have not had a single problem with it, it is easy to dismantle for cleaning and servicing. Sure its not quite as smooth or as air efficient as the top end markers like egos geos DMs NTs etc.

During a few tourneys other members of the team have had serious marker difficulties and have borrowed my etek, every single one of them commented on how good it was even compared to the top level markers they usualy used.

i've only played a couple of games with a team mates etha but it was a good enough marker on the field. Can't really comment on the reliability or ease of service with the etha.

As i said at the start if you can afford the extra £80 (or find one second hand) then i would recommend the etek 3 over the etha.

if you are from the UK there are a number of sites you can order one from, must say i have never actually been to any physical paintball store in the country (excepting trade stands obviously), i've always got everything online so others may be able to help more if you are after a brick and mortar store.

For websites there are
http://www.lips-paintball.com/acatalog/copy_of_ECLIPSE_E-Tek3.html
http://www.store.justpaintball.co.uk/paintball-guns/eclipse
http://www.bzpaintball.co.uk/listing.php?a=cb&c=mar001&b=pe001&t=Eclipse Paintball Guns
to name just a few
If you were ok with second hand markers then the For Sale board on this forum is a good place to get a marker cheaper, there are a few eteks for sale right now. I got my Etek 3 off the classifieds on this site.

Etek 3 are the nuts I've had an Etek 2 in the past and now with an Etek 3, sometimes they come up in the for sale section and even though second hand will work just aswell as a brand new one.

sorry i didn't get chance to post a proper reply earlier i was in the middle of stuff, i would say if you want more info then ask someone if you can have a shoot of theirs, ive never known a player who wouldn't let someone have a go if they were interested in their gun. depending on where you are located get yourself down to a local tournament maybe watch some games and ask some questions. if you are anywhere near the cpps then thats a great place to start, you wont have any problem there finding players shooting both. at the end of the day marker choice is a personal thing, cant beat getting hands on

I bought an Etek 3lt off this forum two weeks ago and although I'm a newbie and I've not used it much, I think it'll work out fine for me. Ideally if I'd had the money I'd have got a geo 2.1 (nice smooth spool valve, quieter, slightly better accuracy, nicer appearance imo, - but nearly £1000!) but since getting the Etek, someone pointed out that eteks and egos are far easier to field strip and clean - geos and ethas having spool valves and a straight single tube, you can't so easily clean them through. I hadn't thought of that before, but I guess that is a good reason for buying an Etek over an etha.
However, like I said I'm a FNG so Ive got a lot to learn!
