After the soup factory that was my stock Etek3 coupled with paint in bad weather in Round 1 of the CPPS, I was wondering if there is a way to make the marker a bit softer on the balls. I've wound out the tension spring on my Rotor, so that less pressure is applied to the stack.

But is the theory right that, if I sacrifice efficiency , then I can screw in the LPR and raise the dwell and the effect would be less kick and lighter on the ball. Is this right?

The stock LPR setting I think is 2 rotations in from flush and Dwell is 10. Has anyone had any experience or can advise me on settings that would achieve my goal.

Yes the stock settings is 2 turns in on the LPR and dewel is 9.

When you say that you were firing soup, was that in Jan when we had the cold weather? At the southern masters in Jan most of the team that had eteks or ego had problems with brittle paint it was to cold for brittle paint.. We changed to a slightly more robust paint and no problems at all. (Some of the other guns also had problems).

What is the Etek like now with the warmer weather?

My Ego and Etek were soup factories at District 10. It was -5.

A brand new good quality battery sorted out the problem and I had to replace it half way through the day with a fresh one.

If your marker is shooting fine now with the warmer weather, then i would put it down to the paint.
When temps are really low, it is wise to go for a winter formula on paint.

Lowering the LPR slightly, upping the dwell slightly , paint to bore match (can lower your operating pressure compared to using a stock 0.693) , setting your velocity to a lower FPS ie 260-270 can also help lower the operating pressure .

Also like niallist said, having a new battery installed can avoid problems. Batteries die quicker in the cold, a bad battery can cause the marker to half cycle, and create endless problems.

I've shot various ego's and stacked tube guns in the past, with no problems in cold weather if the right paint is used. Using non winter grade balls in sub zero temperatures is a recipe for disaster. It sounds like you are trying to fix the gun when a problem doesn't exist in that department.

Inclined to agree with you all. Training in the very rare warm weather we had a few weeks ago and fresh paint, no problems to report. I had also backed off the stack pressure nut in my Rotor, so that might also help. No point having loads of pressure on a stack that only needs to feed 11bps.
