A friend of mine came to me with his etek1 after stripping it (he seriously overlubed the rammer if that's relevant), and I can't figure it out so far.

When aired up, the bolt moves forward and air leaks out of the rammer housing and exhust valve (presumably because the rammer is opening the valve in its forward position). I changed all of the orings on his rammer: no change, I swapped my etek's rammer in for his in case the orings I swapped were dodgy: no change. Occasionally if I fiddle about with the bolt/velocity while firing it eyes-off I can get it to stay back in normal firing position, but when it fires there is very little pressure and balls just roll out.

Should I tell him to just keep changing out rammer orings? Any ideas? (LPR is at stock setting, dwell is stock too) Thanks guys

if he has stripped the whole thing, then take it apart and make sure its all correctly put back together lol. one idea. somthing may be out of place and making a problem but could be a long shot in my guess, as you have done everything i would of done

I'm guessing it might have something to do with the absurd amount of lube he put on his rammer (it was COVERED), but I can't really think of anything else, as it all looks kosher otherwise. Anyway, keep ideas coming because we have the UCPL tourney coming up this weekend! Cheers dudes

No he doesn't know enough to take the solenoid apart and he wouldn't have touched it. If the back o-ring is bust then the pressure from the front hosing would send the rammer forwards, which is why I changed the back o-ring first. I thought maybe the orings I swapped out were the wrong size or were just old/damaged, but when I stuck my rammer in the problem was exactly the same so I'm not really sure where to go with it. I was thinking maybe the huge amount of lube he put in there (we did try to clean some out with ear-cleany-thingies) somehow is disrupting the seal, so I intend to persist with changing the orings on his rammer, but if anyone has had a similar problem and can show me where I'm going wrong it would save me some tinkering and frustration (as well as helping other dudes). That site is awesome btw, especially for Ion owners.
