Etek 1 Shooting with no paintballs

hey i recieved an etek 1 today, and attached my air to it, turned it on. now, i can't find out how to, unless you can't, but can you shoot just air? because i just wanted to test it, and i can't seem to find how to without any paintballs actually in it.
