So I got myself a empire sniper 2 pump just before Xmas and I love it. But being fairly new to the game I don't know much about pump guns.

So my question is this do I need to strip it down to clean it or is it a simple case of a simple wipe down? The reason I ask is I got blasted on the side of the marker and all I did was wipe it down. Is that enough?

a wipe down is all it needs and if it is still working then leave well alone.and the next time your at a site get someone that knows a bit to show you how to get to all the nooks and crannies.

drop the internals out the back and make sure you didn't get any paint inside there and give it a clean up.

oh remember to add a little bit of oil to the hammer and bolt to preserve the orings and keep it running smooooth :)

It would be wise to make sure the grip frame is cleaned out

If paint dries out in there the trigger could get a bit sticky and gunged up

Leave it alone until it stops working (lazy approach to maintence), I've seen more damage to markers from stripped screws than dried paint, someone did a review on these and found they were well lubed at the factory before being sent out.
