I seem to have amassed the European 9volt mountain in my fron room. How can I accurately judge how much life is left in each - would it necessitate buying a multimeter or is there a cheaper and easier way

Actually when I think about it, I have got access to a multimeter if I need to...

Like Kitch says, the battery tester from a duracell pack is the best. You need to put the battery under load to check it's condition.

If you object to buying more batteries to test a battery, then get a battery tester instead :D Shouldn't cost more than a fiver.

Battery testers differ from multimeters in that they place a load on the battery when measuring it, because even mostly dead batteries may read close to nominal voltage when unloaded.

Apply battery to tip of your tongue, or that of a volunteer.
Try a fresh battery...then teh others, to guage how juicy they are.

You may find that your toungue gets a little numb after a while...this is normal...so do it in small batches..or use a selection of small bitches..its all about the "Jump Factor"

Anyone interested in some 9.6V rechargeables?

Yep...gonna be running Skeets-Bitches, alongside Skeets- Paintball!

Cheers for the congrats.

Right...JAVA 9.6V (meaning, thats what they deliver, rather than the usual 8.4V on rechargeables.

Comig from the States..

Heres the spiel:

The Java rechargeables have one distinct advantage over most rechargeable 9vs... They go to a full 9.6V instead of 9 volts. This means you can get up to 20,000 shots out of 1 full charge and the Javas can be recharged over 700 times! For this type of price, you'd be crazy to use regular throw-away batteries!

Look to work out around £9 each.
