This announcement is proberly the most controversial I have ever posted and I am sure I will lose friends because of it but here goes.
I have over the last year as ultimate of the PA Cup/PA League/European Indoor/Series2K3/4 become increasingly aware of the so called cheater boards and have took advice from some of the most knowledgeable people in the game.
The problem we have had is so called “pro” players have had the backing from there sponsor’s to put cheat’s in there electronic markers so after they have fired 40 shots (or any other amount they choose) It will then fire fully auto as long as the trigger is pressed at a rate of more than 6bps.
We have not got unlimited resources and the organisers of the above events have asked me to come up with a rule that protects them but keeps the competitive edge to the sport.
The solution I have come up with is a step back in time in a way, Most markers nowadays have an electronic trigger system and most of them have some sort of paintball detecting device so I had to think of way of keeping the benefits the electronic trigger system has given but eradicate the cheating element amongst us and the simple answer would be do away with the electronic trigger frames and I thought of that for maybe 3 seconds until I dismissed it as unworkable.
However I was cleaning a very old Autococker when the solution to my problem revealed itself.
The reason people get away with extreme rates of fire is because since the advent of the double trigger referees have had to stand and stare at players who seem to be shooting to fast and most people can shoot more than 10 bps so I have decided that from June 1st 2004 only SINGLE trigger systems will be allowed at any of the above events.
All triggers must be manufactured for that use and no modified double triggers will be allowed.
All markers will be checked from the above date.
Paintball Planet has been working with me in an advisory capacity for the last 3 months and to them I offer my sincere thanks for all their work and help and advice.
They have already made a new trigger system that will keep all the benefits of the E-blade but give paintball referees a much better chance of catching the cheats out there.
You can check out the new UKPSF approved trigger at. www.planeteclipse.com/serious.asp
Other manufacturers have been informed and have promised their own triggers working and available by June 1st.
All UK tournaments and the millennium rules committee are currently considering this solution to a major problem and I think it is the most workable in the present climate.
I have for the purpose of this rule defined a single trigger as a device that can be operated by one finger only to cause a paintball marker to discharge its propellant.
Thank You.
