hi all,

Does anyone know where to buy ego screws that are not standard. I need extra long ones 2-5-3cm long to fit my drop forward. I phoned planet and they heard the magic words custom products and told me to speak to them.. in the states yeah right.

ok then if anyone knows where to get some decent alloy screws that will fit a drop forward to the underside of an ego please let me know:)

my last resort is to run to my local bicyle shop but i dont really want to use steel screws on aluminum body. I know ego use special alloy screws that are not that hard. no rude comments please people!

they ain't alloy don't think ally bolts are made with american threads. If they are they won't be available readily over here. Ask for stainless steel. and the length will be in inchs rather than mili-meters.

dont worry too much about alloy, you'll strip the head before you strip the threads...

not sure where you'll get imperial size screws, DO NOT put metric ones in in desperation, they'll either be slightly too big and mess up the threads, or too small and wobble... and mess up the threads...

Your best bet is ordering some from america... take the hit and call PE america (get skype, its almost free to call the states...) or surf american Machine-Mart/Screwfix type stores, you'll find something.

Had to get a spring for my old CP trigger emailed CP, they sent me about 50 trigger kits (springs, roller-bearings etc) and about 100 sheets of stickers all for free. Hell its only an email try it. Failing that I know LiPs get CP stuff in.

screws sizes fit.

HI all,

just been doing some research.

the scews i needed measure 4.8mm width and need to be imperial.

Translated that to imperial the nearest match i can find on ebay is
5/16th not quite 4.8mm width and its unc. Athough the seller also said he had unf. Does anyone know what the ego screws should be as when i phoned planet the tech guy knew all the allen keys for undoing them but not what threads to use.

Ideally counter sunk hex head screws of 1.5 inches is what i am looking for.

While plant have great customer service when it come looking after their stock egos, its somewhat sad they dont supply much info to enable you to fit parts that they dont make. I know its a financial reason but like the the aftermarket trigger etc are better than stock. Other companies speicailize in custom parts they are going to be better at it.

no i am not going to the usa for damm screws or buying a whole kit when a screw should cost
15p.

When i find a decent company that has a range, i will be posting links to em here. I have samples in the post. Will see how they go this weekend.

the thread you are looking for is 10-32 unf .....the usuall length screws used for attaching most bottom lines is 5/8" ....its exacty the same size as the longer screw in an ego feed neck.....try see if that is long enough, if it is give planet a ring back.
all the screws used in egos are stainless steel btw not soft alloy or anything, who ever told you that was talking rubbish

tx

i have a huge custom products direct asa which is super smooth:p:) to scew in. (ahh the enuendo in the sentence).

Anyway the screw length needed should be 1 1\2 inchs.

I also have a mini razor drop forward and yeah the screws only need to be an inch long.

Planet very kindly did send me some screws but they were just way too short. I phoned back for longer ones and was told they didnt have any or just phone custom products etc.

tx for the info about stainless i wont worry about that any more:)
