In my EGO manual it states that a 5/32 key is used to remove the ram cap, now a 5/32 key is miles too small for this, so i tested it using metric equivelants but a 3/16 key (if i remember correctly - it was late last night and i was tired!) was the closest fit and being imperial like all the other fittings on the gun made sense, however upon turning it it spun straight round in the cap and knackered it...DOH.

I've removed the cap using a left-handed tap and last night ordered one of these but i was just wondering if anyone else had experienced a similar problem?

Just the fact that slothball sell these indicates its a problem that is or has been apparent at some point....

Quite a few ppl have stripped the hex groove in the back of the Ram cap, its a known issue. Hence the availability of stainless steel ram caps to prevent this.

Ive not had a problem with mine yet (touch wood)

The guy before me only used it at one tourney so i oubt he had it apart much either, the anno within the hex cap looksed untouched (not anymore tho :D)

I was suprised planet dont sell the stainless caps mind...

Not happened in any of our about 12 markers in a year :)

Have heard of it happening to other people though. Think if it is not in perfectly straight it must have weak threads and just strip easily.
