EGO board differences??

Ok, so i was looking at the different companies, tadao, virtue etc, i was wondering why the boards are marked per year, eg ego 06 board. I know the software is the same, but are the boards really that different to eachother to warrant a board for each year?

well the optical switch is in different place on the o5 boards compared to the 06 ones as the trigers are different

The board layout on the 07 is much different from the rest considering it has both micro and opto switchs for the trigger
