Hi all,

I have just searched the forums, and cant find anything about how to time my ego (05, stock regs, 1.08 software, stock bolt) for efficiency (though I've probably missed something).

I was figuring, turn the reg right up (back the screw out), turn the lpr right up (back the screw out), then drop the dwell, then use the front lpr for fine tuning of velocity, then use the reg for day to day tuning. Is that right?

It's right if you want to feck your gun up;)

If you want to keep it working for more than 30secs, leave it alone...:)

Firstly, the EGO is different to previous Eclipse cockers - and therefore the word "timing" doesnt strictly apply as it is a ram / hammer poppit valve based marker.

That said, Before anything else, completely degass your EGO, then:

1 - set you LPR screw to flush with the top of the LPR cap
2 - wind you HRP screw all the way out, the screw back in approx 3.5 full turns. This should set the inline to approx 280psi, equating to arounbd 270-300fps.
3 - set your dwell to 9ms
4 - lube your rammer orings with light 3in1 oil.

Good to go.
Over a chrono, use your HPR to adjust the actual velocity.

If you wish to "tune" your ego to make it as efficient as possible, you need to bear in mind that if you have recently changed any orings, they will need to be broken in a bit. With this is mind i would suggest statrting from scratch.

Remove and replace the orings on the LPR HPR pistons, clean the pistons and springs, and lube with think lube such as vaseline / DOW 33 etc.
REmove the rfammer orings, replace, and lube with light 3in1 gun oil.

Perform steps 1 through 3 above. After about 10000 shots (5 or more cases) you can start to tune your gun. this may require up to or above 10 cases however.

With the gun set up as above, screw the LPR in about 1 turn (optional, I found this worked good).
Over a chrono, set your gun to shoot 280fps using the inline reg.
Open the grips, and decrese the dwell by 0.1ms and fire 5-10 shots, repeat, decreasing the dwell in increments each time. When the fps starts to drop, stop adjusting the dwell. Add 1ms to this value, and that should be your optimal dwell for consistency and efficiency.

Cheers lovetone, thats exactly what I needed.

Figured as eclipse used to be THE cocker people, they'd put a little bit of room for fine tuning in their markers, and seems i was right :D. Long live planet.
