i recently started paintball again after a year off, however, i came back to my EGO 05 to find the velocity stuck at 170 fps.

I am sure that it is the dwell settings that are causing it to fire at such a low rate as there are no leaks, however i contact eclipse and they said it will most likely need part of the solenoid assembly to be replaced? is this right, i cant see how that affects the velocity?.

thanks, mike

they may be referring to the fault that occurs when the grip screw contacts the solenoid coil and damages it.

The dwell is directly controlled by the solenoid, so it's easy to see how it could affect the velocity.

try all the simple things to fix it first. give all your internals a good clean out and lube job, replace your battery, back out the LPR to flush, reset the board to stock settings (including dwell). try that and tell us if you see any change.

thanks, the more i think about it, the more i think it must be the dwell, sadly, although i treated my gun better than my mum n girlfriend combined on christmas, when i stopped playing i didnt take the battery out and let it run down and therefore i think all the saved setting from the previous owner and setup must have been deleted. plausible?

in all honesty i'm not actually sure if it stores the settings if you remove the battery haha! just to be safe anyway dust down your manual and reset the settings anyway (you can always change back to your preferences later). did you check your LPR? if it's screwed in waaay too much it can seriously affect your velocity (seen a mate do the exact same with an 05 ironically).

i'm sure you will have but you didn't actually say if you have thoroughly cleaned and relubed your gun since you started playing again? if the same lube has been left on and the gun hasn't been cycled in a long time it can clog it up a fair bit.

after all this, if it still isn't fixed so long as you are comfortable doing it i would get your solenoid apart and clean up the piston part that shuttles back and forward to make sure it is cycling smoothly.
