I have an 05 Ego that has a paint problem. I can't work out if its a chop or break, but the result is always the same, soup in the breach.

For example, I was at training on Sat. Got my gun out took it to the chrono, fired no more than 15 - 20 single shots with plenty of gap between and then went back to the staging area. Then I noticed Orange goo coming from the eye covers and there was a break in the breach. So I cleaned it up and turned my Halo to mode 1 and went to play. I lasted 2 games before yet another break. The tell tale sign is either a ball bursting just after it leaves the barrel, a puff of Orange from the barrel or curving shots. I've changed my detents and they protrude quite a lot into the breach so I don't think its a double feed. I have also factory reset the board, and set the lpr a little in from flush. Any ideas.

My setup is an Empire reloaded, ego 05 with 1.08 software, cure 2 bolt and Dye Ultralite .689

Have you also tried a bigger bore size .693? one of my team mates was useing a .689 at the last cpps on a geo 2.1 & thats all he was doing is breaking the paint in the feedneck & shooting soup? he changed to a.693 & worked fine dont know if this is any help to you mate. :)

back the lpr out to flush or maybe even a turn out, that way its as slow a cycle as possible.
get the inside of the breach and the bolt itself absolutely spotless, make sure no damage to the inside surfaces of the breach.
don't touch any settings if you have already reset the board
as mentioned above, change your battery just to be sure (can always change back if need be).

worst case scenario try using a paint with a thicker shell.

My 05 was mega reliable almost to the point of being boring, and hardly ever broke a ball regardless of which paint I shot. Must be something basic causing the breaks - did you try another loader? The .689 barrel may have been a bit small but I often used that size without problems.
