Hey guys,

I bought myself an 05 Ego not long ago and am really enjoying using it. I'm looking to keep it for a bit and would like to get an aftermarket board as my main concern is that if I want to start playing tournaments, it wont be legal. The only one I've come up with so far is the Tadao Musashi Series:

It seems to have a lot of features and be fully compatible with this years rules, plus the price is affordable at $100. This is my first electro marker so I don't really know how this whole aftermarket board thing works. Will Tadao release a software update for any new rules in 2009 and further for this board? Is the update something that I can do at home? Does anyone know of any other boards that they could recommend for an Ego 05? Many thanks in advance.

Edit - Almost forget to mention, I'm really liking the optical trigger in the stock board. Am I right in thinking the Tadao board requires that I use it's microswitch setup?

Hi ya,

That board is the best you can get for the 05 in my opinion, my wife has one in her 05 Nexus Pink Lady, and it feels better than my old Ego 07. They are very easy to set up, and will be reliable.

You will have all the settings you need for tournament play for a long time - unless they change rules drastically.

Yes, you will have to use the microswitch, but don't think of it as a bad thing. Most people prefer them, as they have a more direct feel.

There are a few other options out there, but that seems to be the best. Try looking up the Lucky Boards, I used them in my previous angels and they were good too.

Good luck!

I've used both the Tadao M7 & Lucky spitfire boards

Both really good, loads of adjustability & micro switch trigger, which also I prefer the feel of compared to the optical on the standard ego board.
