Hi all, Just something me and dazzer13 have put together!
This is for all you people that are sick of replacing Eggys battery doors!
As the hordes of people with eggs held together with electrical tape increases, it has become more and more apparent to us that the 'new style' battery door hasnt solved theproblem... So me and dazzer13 are proud to present the first of hopefully many useful mods-
An Evolution 2 battery door fixing kit.
How It Works
The main cause of the battery doors breaking is the way that the batteries are connected to the board, your two 9V's are wedged tightly between the battery door and the contacts mounted on the small PCB board, the battery door has to maintain pressure on the batteries (to prevent your hopper from cutting out mid game) and as a result a lot of force is placed on the hinge which cannot take the strain and snaps. Now VL dont seem to be bothering to fix this problem, most likely becasue it is more profitable for them to keep selling people new doors!
To fix this problem we have made a converter that swaps the original PCB board and contacts for a snap on connecter, this completely removes the pressure on the door and guarantees the connection between batteries and board. The converter is very simple to fit and could be done by anyone in about 5 minutes.
This also means that everybody with broken battery doors doesn't need to replace their door right away, as even when your tape stretches the connection will still be maintained.
Im pretty sure that even if your whole door fell off it would keep working! (havent tested that one though)!
