hello there people, i have busted the switch on my zboard. I highly doubt i was the first to do this, and probably wont be the last.

I think it just needs replacing outright with a toggle switch from maplins but does anyone know

a) what toggle switch i need (from maplins or RS) or
b) Why on earth the switch has 5 points of contact on the board itself? (guessing the switch is the same as the yboard, which i considered stealing the switch from).

thanks 4 any help - Ste.

dont quote me on this but i belive theirs 5. but it only use 3 maybe just 2.
I think its if you wanted to have the toggel work in the oppsite direction when turning the switch on/off, so instead of right being off it is on and vise versa. the 3rd terminal is the earth i belive.

I would say that the switchs are indenticle on the Y and Z board.

AS for buying one, i had a look on maplin.co.uk i found some that might work, however their not side mounted like on the eggy board so they wont work.

good luck m8

The two pins closest to the toggle are just mounts to take some of the stress off the conducting pins in the back. There are three pins in the back because it's a double position switch, which allows the switch to be (On) when the toggle is to the left, and also be (On) with a different circuit when the toggle is to the right.

As for the one you are looking for, you can replace it with any normal toggle switch, I used APEM, but I have no idea where you would get them in the UK. The same size of switch is used in the Revolutions, so you could rob one from there, or even wire in a simple slide switch, and mount it somewhere else on the shell.
