Can someone tell me what "lol" means?

I see it alot on this forum and just wondered what the meaning was.

Lol = laugh out loud

LMAO = Laugh my Arse off
ROTFLMAO = Rolling on the floor laughing my arse off

This might start a few more abbreviations.
