Playing around with the idea of getting a DM12 just wondering what a fair price is for one in good condition,i have seen a few for sale/trade but nothing that so far really catches the eye.

Also what do they shoot like compared to other modern spoolvalve markers,i once got a DM9 in a trade a few years ago and only shot a few pots through it before selling it on and cannot really remember it floating my boat at the time so just need to know what a newer one shoots like and if there any smoother & more reliable than older versions.

Thanks in advance...mike

I was the proud owner of a DM11, and even though a lot of people complain about Dye, I really loved it. The DM11 and the 12 and 13 after it are pretty much the same, as far as I'm aware. There is barely any difference between them, I know the DM12 had some little 'window' cut-outs on the body where the bolt is, and other than that there's really nothing different about them. There's different colour options available I guess, but they all use the same frame so the grips from the 11 upwards are interchangeable.

Shooting-wise, I can't comment on the 12, but I can tell you of my experiences with the 11- maybe someone else will be able to shine some more light. I know that the 11 had a little bit of kick to it, but it felt good. Well balanced gun, the Eye-Pipes can be a pain, mine tended to crack just where the eye's were, so they'd register as 'dirty/obstructed' and the pipes are about 15 squids to replace.

The DM11 was my first gun, I loved it. If the DM12 is like it, then you are in for a treat. But definitely try one out, its obviously not everyone's forte.

As vimto said, the DM series all shoot pretty much the same from the dm9 upwards. The dm9,10,11,12 and 13 all have the same bolt, air chamber volume ect, so are all nearly identical. What I have seen is that on the 12 and 13, the lpr needs to be ran a tiny bit higher to compensate for the sleeve, which I don't think they made quite small enough (the notorious dm 'flick test' doesn't appear to work on the 12 and 13) and as a result it's more of a POP than a wet fart sound.

The eyepipe issues are best solved by putting an o ring on the back of the barrel, which will stop the eye pipe bending, and creating drag on the bolt, eventually cracking it. Personally I never liked the grips on my NT so I went back to a DM9 i got off a lad i know, and it hasn't skipped a beat. Largeley I'd say the dm10/dm11 would be the best value for money, the 11 if you want the tooless grips, and the 10 if you dont.

Sorry to appear like a highjacker/fisher, but if you DO want a DM with a free rotor and pack mines for sale here: http://p8ntballer-forums.com/threads/dm9-rotor-lysyk-pack-for-trade-geo-ego-axe-ect.156049/

My opinion on dm's then, is that anything from a 9 up will shoot largley the same, but they will all 'feel' different in the hands. I wouldn't get a dm12, as the amount of 11's that are on the forums for silly cheap prices seems too good to warrant buying a more recent version.

happy shooting :)

I own a DM9 and a couple of DM12s. Bolt maintenance is similar and takes about the same time on all three. I appear to have a little more efficiency on my DM12 from when I have played and seen how much air I have left but have not done any serious testing to confirm it. Either way its no more than a pod (standard not a locklid). Shoot very similar which is hardly surprising as titanthione has stated above the bolts are practically identical. The move to the wrap around grip (DM11 onwards) does give a different feel to the marker so I would suggest you try them in your hands as how a marker feels is a very personal thing. I would happily take to the field with either and at last midland masters a team mate used my DM9 for the day whilst I used a DM12 and neither missed a beat all day and I didn't break a ball across six games (cant vouch for the DM9 as I didn't ask him but he didn't complain about anything). The above tip from titanthisone with the oring on the barrel is a must, This stops you overtigtening the barrel on fit and "crushing" the eyepipe which seems to lead to premature failure. Using an oring on the barrel I only had to change the eyepipe on my DM9 once in a couple of years (average 6 tournaments a year). There is an ex nexus DM12 going for £430 at the moment and I vaguely recall a DM11 going for £350. At those prices I would take the DM11 as marginal differences between the two. I think earlier in the year a DM9 went sub £300 so a DM10 should be somewhere in between.

I bought a dm12 but u wasn't overly impressed with it, I paid £600 for it in Nov used it to train but it just didn't feel right in my hands.
Shot nice & consistant fps & was pretty quiet allowing better hearing of team mates.
I found the adjustable trigger not to my liking no matter what I did with it.

That's all I know about them really, the tool less bolt removal was handy & dye sent me done bolt Orings (the blue ones) foc which was nice
