Diamond Wars Episode 5: Mayday Mayday Report.
Hot. Very hot. As the Morning sun shone across the Battlefield in the Corimbe, the Troops of United States Diamond Exports and the Hoffmann Minex Corporation congregated at their Corporation’s Head Quarters.
Drask Hoffmann was preparing to lead his troops into battle, thoughts of their spearhead victory fresh in their minds. The troops were being divided: some preparing to take the Crater Lake, the rest attempting to control the Ore Refinery. The HMC were ready for a quick start…
Meanwhile, in the USDE Camp, Col. Mayo was rounding all available Squads to meat the HMC head on. Moral was low. A huge loss on resources in the last battle was really getting to some of the troops. They need a victory
The all familiar Air horn sounds in the distance, both mighty armies begin the advance towards each other.
Determined to disrupt the HMC’s Main route, the USDE send a demolitions expert to Crater Bridge, they blow it up causing the HMC to take alternative routes across the battlefield. Shortly after, in retaliation; the HMC attacked the USDE’s Scheafer’s Bridge, a large battle broke out over and around the Bridge; however amidst the frenzy, the HMC managed to get to it, and blow it up.
Diverting their troops, the HMC set up garrisons at Kokulu’s and Birimbo’s Bridges, to prevent the USDE from flanking them. A section of USDE Troops patrolled by, and were ambushed by the HMC who eliminated the whole squad.
On the other side of the Battlefield, the action was heating up. The USDE had taken control of Coetzee Way and were preventing the HMC from passing through. This fortification of the road seemed to be going well, until a troop of HMC Soldiers emerged from the surrounding woodland and attacked from a flank. Successfully attaining a supply crate from the Border Control, they then returned to the HMC HQ with the loot. Were the USDE going to get their much needed victory? All was looking grim
A US spy had been taken out near the HMC’s base. Cpl Blakeway of the USDE set out on a near impossible task of retrieving the Spy’s Intel from deep in HMC territory. Alone, and unarmed, Blakeway moved slowly around the Quarantine perimeter, taking his time. 25 mins later, he located his fallen comrade’s body and began the search for any valuable Intel. He located a valuable package containing information on up and coming USDE issued Missions. The lone Corporal then began the long trek back to the safety of his Force’s Lines.
The Brain had set a task to the USDE High Command to retrieve an item of high value and return it to him. The item was located near Crater Lake, and the Col Mayo and Cmdr Scott issued the order to search the area. Pvt Howell moving quickly across the banks of Crater Lake, stumbled upon a large Bag of Diamonds, and quickly pocketed them. He began to fight his way past the on coming HMC traffic and securely returned the package to his HQ. Cmdr Scott then made a deal with The Brain to sell him the Diamonds for $50,000,000 cash.
During this time, the HMC troops were stirring… they had sent a large Platoon of troops to the stream between Crater Bridge and Scheafer’s Bridge, with the task of blowing up the USDE’s Supply Stacks to cut off their resources. They came head to head with a well defended position around the F.B. Gunship, and were held off. They could not break past this defence and the HMC failed their task.
The HMC were forced into a retreat; they regrouped at their HQ, ready for another assault. They co-ordinated an attack on the Bunkers near Coetzee Way, attacking all advancing USDE Troops, they set demolitions at the bunkers and destroyed them both, preventing the USDE from utilising them as garrisons.
Shortly after this, The Brain set another task, this time to the HMC’s Drask Hoffmann. More Diamonds were to be collected, however, do to an unfortunate (for the HMC) shift of troops across the Battle Field, the bag was yet again found by the USDE. Once more the Diamonds were sold to The Brain by Cmdr Scott.
Outraged by this scandal, Drask Hoffmann issued a bounty on any Commander of the USDE. This challenge was accepted by many of the HMC troops, however only a small handful managed to get close to the USDE HQ. Pvts Green and Lambeth managed to flank the USDE, and began an attack from the Supply Stacks. This attack caused havoc amongst the USDE troops, and a large fire fight broke out across the Stacks. Not wanting the USDE troops to be Ambushed, Cmdr Scott armed only with a pistol, joined and took control of the USDE troops. After a long period of time, they finally cleared the area of enemy soldiers, but at a cost, they had been so distracted by this surprise attack, that they failed to prevent the HMC from advancing on the eastern borders, toward the Ore Refinery.
Quickly realising their mistake, Col Mayo left Cmdr Scott guarding the Stacks and organised a heavily armed attack on the Refinery, sending wave after wave of USDE troops through the area. They slowly, but steadily succeeded in pushing back the HMC ranks, and just at the climax of the battle, Col Mayo made the stunning move of flanking the HMC troops, with just a handful of USDE to back him up. Wiping out nearly 20 HMC infantry by himself, Col Mayo literally sent the Hoffmann Minex Corporation running back into the woodlands. The HMC had the area greatly populated and the Battle for the Ore Refinery was unbelievable, with thousands of round fired through thick clouds of red smoke, grenades going off all around, and then…quiet.
The HMC were forced to tactically withdraw, and prepare to fight another day.
The USDE finally had the victory they were yearning for… although it was a little too late.
Throughout the day, the United States Diamond Exports earned an exceptional and valiant $519,000,000 by completing Core Missions, Sniper Missions, gathering Intel and collecting Diamond Ore Crates. They also sold two lots of Diamonds to The Brain.
The Hoffmann Minex Corporation had a steady day throughout the battle. During this battle they earned their corporation $569,000,000. They did this by completing the majority of their core missions, collecting a large amount of Intel and Diamond Ore Crates and completing all Sniper Missions.
Neither Force were fined for H.O.T. guns or breaking the quarantine. The HMC bought an extra medic for the day. After spending and fines, the USDE’s income for 2009 stands at $1,582,000,000; after spending and fines the HMC have taken the lead with a substantial $1,873,000,000
