Probably for the same reason alot of teams have this year.
Quality - after shooting a timmy for the last couple of years (been good to me/team) the better built quility on the ego is apparent straight away + its light.
Price - A RRP of £800 which in fairness most wont pay especially if the whole team are on them and supported by planet, makes it an affordable marker for the whole team to go on instead of having a mis-match of markers (good for maintenace & parts).
Speed - its as quick as any of the top end kit I have had the fun of shooting.
Support - Planet what more do you need to say, the ego is still relatively new and planet are still tweaking ideas like the grips & boards for example which they are upgrading when they come out.
As were still quite early into the season I think you may see a few more teams/players moving over, so keep your eyes peeled
