Nobody can really stop you using it, but it is illegal in the UK to commercially fill a bottle which does not have HSE or Pi certification, which basically means if you can't get it filled you won't be able to use it.

The certification procedure is for a tank design, not for a specific unit. The manufacturer has to comply with various production methods, and has to submit a sample batch of tanks to the tester, which are subjected to a variety of unpleasant fates, such as being dropped, crushed, burned, overpressurised, sawn, drilled and generally abused to ensure that the design meets the relevant standards. For this reason it is not possible for an individual tank to be given a certificate it does not already have.

My current info is, you can fill a dot bottle from your dive bottle, as long as the dot bottle is in test. Testing them is difficult but not impossible.

As for using them on a paintball field..FORGET IT.

You won't be covered by the sites insurance, and may invalidate cover for anyone else playing.

Air is very dangerous, DON'T RISK IT

i have an angel air preset with the following.... (in brief)

HSE-AL-FW2 10-"C with a L inside"-01
Filling Pressure: 310 BAR
Test Pressure: PH 466 BAR

DOT-E11194 4500 PSI REE 9.2cc
TC-SU 5303
310 BAR

Tom you should be familiar with this bottle as you put a new fill nipple on it and handed it over to me at hamburger hill. Does this mean its usable in both the UK and USA? or is it naff?

EDIT: It has already been retested. from the ticket i quote

"TESTED BY: Remar Safety Services
January 2005
DUE FOR NEXT TEST
January 2009"

i dont have a clue where this company is based but as its been retested (i presume in the UK) i'm safe?

Help appriciated!

Dean

Hi Dean, don't worry your fine.

Originally, our bottles were both hse (old uk standard) and dot (us standard).

Over the last three years the regulations have changed, and new bottles are Pi tested (new uk and european standard).

Hse/dot bottles can be used in the uk and us until their end date (15 years from born date)

Dot only bottles are not for uk use.

Remar are based in Caerphilly, South Wales. They are very good and come highly reccomended by everyone who has dealt with them, including me.
