DOT is either Dept of Transport or Dept of Trade either way it is the AMERICAN standard.

TC is the Transport Canada which means as just pointed out is the CANDADIAN standard,

HSE Home Safety Executive (close enough Hotpoint ? ;) ) which is the ENGLISH standard.

DOT and TC bottles allowed for use in the respective countrys as per all the other threads we have had on this subject

HSE good for use in England/Scotland/Wales/N Ireland....left off the Channel Islands cos they have different rules regarding paintball equipment so the bottle thing "may" be different there too :D

AF anyone can use HSE, if that is the bottle of use within that region even an American/Canadian etc. It only becomes an issue if you try to use an HSE in another country that has a different test system and you are NOT from the country where that test is the norm. If that doesn't explain it clear enough...

I am english so must use HSE within England nothing else.
When in the States or Canada I can use that HSE tank cos I am VISITING

I can also use a DOT, but only when I am in the country for who DOT is the test.

I cannot at any time use a DOT/or any other form of standard of test in the UK.......I admit it will cause problem if you follow it to the letter of the law 'cos it would mean I can't chrono any foriegn markers equipped with DOT/whatever bottles (so perhaps this is where the Mill annoucement came from?) but then that is semantics. (where the hell is Hotpoint when you need him)

Chunk may very well be from Ireland but is it N Ireland or Eire? if Eire then he may well be subject to a different standard to you and I ;)

Take a couple of days off away from the tech forums and another batch of DOT related threads appear :(

There is no problem in you firing a DOT equipped marker over the chrono Mark, the legality issue relates to filling them with gas in the first place. Legal to own, legal to use, illegal to Fill

AFAIK The Irish Republic recognises both DOT and HSE.

HSE - Health & Safety Executive
who are the people that govern Health & Safety throughout the UK. As all sites, shops etc are covered by HSE law they can only legally fill HSE standard bottles. You can buy and use a non-HSE bottle and if you have your own air tank you can fill a non-HSE bottle, but you can only do this at home. This is because you are covered by the site safety rules whilst you are on the site and that even includes the car park.
So if you have a non-HSE tank in the UK, please use it with care when you're on-site cos any mistake in filling it could cost you dear.
NOTE Most sites will probably not let you even use a non HSE bottle, just to protect themselves and I honestly don't blame them, because one accident with a non HSE bottle could put paintball back years.
You'll probably find that within 5 years you won't be able to use the black CO2 bottles any more, thank to European H&S regs.
