Right on friday i saw the thread for this game, and thought oh what the hell lets go for it, i also remebered having a conversation with Eski (who i respect the opinion of) about his site. So friday i phoned up, and spoke to Chris who booked me in a looked forward to meeting me (ha ha what a mistake there mate)
So anyway me n Amy (the gf) agreed we would travel up on sat night stay, n then come back sunday afternoon. So on sat night me n the gf cleaned all my equipment, and loaded the car full of blankets and food and alcohol. But then as fate would have it one of my other guns wasnt in a fit state to play, so i phoned a "friend" ( i use that loosy as i dont know if he would want to be associated with me he he) and he agrred to lend me his EGO (then i realised i, me,, myself, was going out with a shockwave captins marker, oh my god how good did i feel). So after picking that up me n amy finally decided to enter onto the mototrway, through the M5 and up to junction 15 on the M6, all joking aside i know motorway driving is boring, but hey with all the roadworks, and gritters ut in action it was actually quite eventful! So anyway off the motorway, now we were told 10 mins fro the junction, and guess what i done it in 12 (with a little detour!), drove through the farm, then up to the site main enrtrance, parked the car and got all our thermal equipment on. Walked in and there they were, the men who initiated this whole concept! All introduced ourselves, camp fire and bbq roaring (as you can see in the pics, although i believe the leaf blower may of played part in this), few drinks, a bit of music, and some deep conversation, and then the spanner, Chris got a phoned call and dissapeared! So much for the hardcore northeners, goes at minus 2 and they all shoot of! But that still left me, amy, fish, smoog and the other guy (sorry whats your name?) so we carried the torch till about 2.30 then all off to bed.
So sunday morning, i got rudley awaken by the H-pac guy, yes they rented a HPAC unit for the day how cool is that! But he had been up since 4 so i let him get off lightly! But anyway, wnet back into the site and all the lads were in action mode, i got kitted up and started to prepare for the day.
Concept
The idea for this day is absoluty brilliant. Imagine a mix betewwn tournie, supair, and scenario and then you have domination.
Tournie: On site gun technician, H PAC unit, paint kept in warm conditions.
Sup Air: A small sup air field, set out well and fitted well into the game play.
Scenaion: 1 hour games, domination and capture of points, woodland.
Now the idea was one temas start at one spawn site, the other team in the other spawn site, try and get to the domination point to hold it. But you have to hold both in order to score any points. On site on supair for the fast finger pulling tournie players, and the other woodland based covered in trees and bushes for the "cammo" guys. Or thats what i thought........ No evryone went everywhere it was amazing, a guy sat on the furthest tea bag, with his A5 and flatline picking tournoe players of doing 15 bps spraying and praying, it was mint! Then in the woods cammo guys bunked up taking the sniper shot, with a tournie player lighting the hell out of him and his mates (no overkill as that is dangerous)!
But anyway games started about 10.30 i think, i dunoo i was buzzing with adrenalin, and with me i had KILL CRAZY (what a bloke didnt get in till 4 and still owned on the field!), and SHADES, mate the highest respects paid to you for what you did, thank you. We went to our spawns and games was called. At the end of the game, scores were told, everyone gased, reammoed, and then back out for the second. When i left may i add that the REDS WERE WINNING!
At this point i then sadly had to go as i had other comms back in bristol on sunday evening. But i wish i would of stayed it was an awesome day, full of everything and anything you could of hoped for in a site.
Now dont get me wrong you who know me know that i am a hamburger hill boy through and through, and still in my opinion that is the best site i have ever been too, but this was most probably the best day paintballing i have ever had! The staff were extra brilliant and genuinly firnedly, the customers were well looked after and thigs were run very proffesionally with no expense spared whats ever (c'mon lads how may site have you been too and there is a HPAC Unit sitting there?).
Now the bad points i am affraid
1 I think the "rec"ballers should of been spoke to on a more personal level, instead of in the big group, as we all know about safe zones and gun saftey, whereas first timers wouldnt really know, and i think a bit of an assumption was made on this basis.
2 Team recognition, now this just isnt here, it is everywhere, there is nothing worse than running through a wood shooting a guy, then he turns round and he is on your side, now you know you are gonna get a bonus ball in your back! Is there a bandanna, cheap t shirts or anything that site maybe able to offer for more ease of recognition.
But except from that, nothing that i could think of. It was well htought out, and well ran.
I am going to be back again and again.
I would like to wbabble on for a bit longer but i am in fear of getting boring, so may i just say, thanks, i had a really good time and so did the girlfriend, and i will post all pictures later today.
Thank you
Anthony
