What do you mean does it really work? If you mean, does it recock the marker, then yes, it works. It covers the cocking knob so you don't smack yourself with it, and quiets some of the blowback, that's all.
I have one on my 98 custom and it works fine. It also keeps paint, shell, dirt, etc. from getting in the hole where the cocking knob extends out from the body. They are relatively cheap and probably worth the price.
