Hi All
Have got some dodgy e mails lately about a Cocker I have for sale.
I'm sure that they are some sort of scam and just wanted everyone who is selling kit to be aware of this and be on your guard.

Just curous because when I was bidding on a marker I got a load of emails asking if I was interested in a marker they had, unused unopened etc etc....

No, the ad is on this forum.
That's why I was warning everyone else.
They could be genuine but have the stink of scam all over them.
For example,
A guy wants to buy my Cocker, claims he is from Canada. I pointed out that he could buy one over there and it would probably work out cheaper with all the shipping etc.
Still said he wanted it (in very bad English). Then he said that he was being posted to West Africa (no mention of country) and wants to use his expenses topay for the marker. So his company is going to send me a cheque for 3 grand and he wants me to forward the rest to him by way of a Western Union office.
All sounds very suspicious. I have kept all the e mails he has sent me in case he is trying to launder some cash or something.
Anyway, Iam supposed to get the cheque ealy next week.
I will post the situation as it develops.
I have since had two more enquiries, both of which sound equally dodgy. One doesn't even mention the Cocker. Just says, Iam interested in the goods you have for sale:confused:
Like I said, I'll keep you all updated.

KInda thought it was. I have no intention of sendinhg anything until the cheque clears anyway. Cheers for the input though.
As long as we keep people on the forum aware of it then we are all helping.:)
BTW Got an e mail yesterday saying that I had won 500,000 US$ in a lottery!!!! A quick check on the net confirmed my suspicions that it is a scam!!! The sad thing is that people have actaully been caught out by it and have loast thousands! Scotland Yard don't seem to want to know either :(

mate, the check will apear to clear, and the bank will say it's in your account. Get them to double check if it has cashed, and then check again :)

western union is THE bank for scammers, if any transaction is going through it, dont even believe it will work, and the money will appear to be there, and then you will discover a fake account number or something has been used and its worthless, i had a similar thing when i sold my impy, some person in some easter asian country said he would buy it for £1k but he could only process money by credit card:rolleyes:

Personal cheques can take up to 20 working days to "properly" clear ( 1 Month!)...

So don't even bother to cash it... you know its a scam, so stay away...
