For those who recall (or wish to check back in past NPPL rules) the max dimensions of an acceptable field have dwindled, particularly in recent years to the current, what? 240x120?
Now here's the do-it-yourself part. Offer a suitable explanation for why field size is shrinking.

They, with the FBI, are building a giant weather balloon to disguise their main invasion fleet's landing. So they are using the left over bits of sup-air field.

The same agencies working with beings from other galaxies have devised huge tractor beam that can only cover an area that large. Oh yeah the FBI is under the control of these beings. So when the time comes for total invasion of our planet they will remove all paintballers during tournaments. That way us humans have no defense against their paintball marker weilding Aliens. But their paintballs contain a special concoction that will change us into them! But remember you didn't here this from me! They are listening every where! Shhhhhhhhhh

ahh my theory is slightly more mundane but problably no closer to the fact . Sinister beings aka. promoters tourney organizers have realized that the smaller the field the faster the games and the faster the games the bigger a tourney can be without actually requiring more fields .

Combo-theory...

Firstly, the fields are now smaller so that pretty much all markers can fire the full length of the field from the off. This means firing on the break (for the sweetspot effect) and, as rockon pointed out, shorter games. Shorter games means more matches played, which means more paint used... so actually the sponsors are controlled by capitalist aliens.

Secondly, It's all down to the "Wagon Wheel" effect. For those that remember those marshmallow chocolate monsters they used to be absolutely fecking huge! Now they are tiny. The "Wagon Wheel" effect is, quite simply, that everything gets smaller with age.

I am sensing the rough outlines of a Pygmee conspiracy.

Being rather small and stockish it takes a Pygmee team a full day to reach the other half of the field. Definitly not enough to make a max. Pygmees are pride people, so something had to be done. Expect to see paintball fields shrinking for the next years.

Did anyone notice that paintballs are also becoming smaller?

Wagon wheels are getting smaller as are all choccy bars.
And then the choccy companies try to rip us of by printing 'extra 25%' on the packet and increase the size back up to the original size. The also try the kingsize formula. Print kingsize on the packet, increase the size by a bit and inflate the price.
