Do Dye not get it, or do I not?

well, ive just been browsing the planet website and came across the new DYE gear, looking at the prices i saw the protos pants and thought, good pricing, looks good, then came the the 2004 hhybrid pants, basically same as last year, same price to, then came the C4 pants, which are *slightly* overpriced, but this isnt my point......

my point is, there was a big whoha about the 2003 dye jerseys having pads on them, and now the rules say they are allowed, but no pads are allowed underneath. and these C4 pants, have padded areas on the knees etc, which surely means you cant have pads underneath......dunno about you, but id much rather have pads and no padded areas, than a padded area.....

p.s. wow, the title rhymes:)

Completely disagree, have always found actual knee pads a pain in the arse as they constrict movement at all times. Knee pads built into trousers however means you benefit from padding but only when you knee'd it (see what I did there ;) - when you kneel down on them.

Think I'll be investing in the C4 pants for that very reason.

my point wasnt me asking if people prefer pads or padded areas on trousers, its the fact, that these padded areas are there, and people WILL have pads on underneath, which is against the rules as far as i know, but hey, they could all become afreak like you and not wear pads;) :D

I understand what you are saying but the point I am making is this...

I don't think people will wear those pants AND pads. Given the choice of knee pads or being able to move (quickly) I'll go for movement every time, as a lot of people would. However, being able to move and have a bit of cushioning for my knees when I need it is a bonus I will be glad of.

If people wear too many layers or too much padding they are asked to remove some anyway so I don't see what the problem is?

I still don't think padding makes any significant difference to balls breaking or not and am yet to see any evidence to make me believe anything to the contrary, it is the same argument we had last year with the 2003 Dye tops.

Lets look at the facts here. Little jon is looking at dye pants which have pads built into them, and decides that they are unfair due to some unscrupulous players wearing pads underneath them. Well basicly I couldn't give two craps if somebody decides that are going to wear a secondry set of pads underneath padded trousers. As long as I play clean I'm happy, if I spent all day bothering what other players were doing and if they were trying to cheat a bounce, I wouldn't get out on to the field at all.
And stop looking at dye pants LJ you'll mostly be wearing redz pants next seaon.;)

Exactly the same

I got a pair of C4s a while ago from the states, and yes, they are padded to the max, I like proper pads wehen playing on uneven/rocky fields (see Stoke MM R6) but these pants will be fine on their own for the likes of Wrexham etc.

does it matter if you have pads on under the new dye trousers cos the ball is still gonna hit the surface of the pants......you could have ten inches of foam under your trousers but the ball still hits the outside.....

does it really matter????

yes because it bounces, and ive have seen it bounce, it has even happened to me, so yes it does matter, because that bounce may not have happened if there was the extra padding there that is not needed.

JT skinz are a prim example of bouncers, sometimes they dont fit properly and arent actually like a 2nd skin like they are meant to be:rolleyes: and this in turn makes a cushion of air, and the pads themselves = muchos bouncing on the forearm

Don't wear pads.
Pads are for poofs.:D

Seriously though. I can see where L J is coming from here. If the rules dictate (for example) that you can only wear a playing top & a t-shirt underneath, surely making the top padded gives an unfair advantage to an un-padded top.

I can also see Chris's point of view, a hit is a hit is a hit, pads often work against you, they can provide a solid surface for a ball to impact, that wouldn't be there if the pants/top were just loose and baggy.
