the thread is different on the ion to that oof the matrix series of markers. as for the frame where are you going to put the noid? on the trix's it mounts in the main body of the marker and on the ion it's on the board that passes into the grip

Yup.

Unless you made a tray for it, it would be quite difficult .
If you have access to machining tools you could try doing it, or try putting an ego frame on it (someone's actually done that so you have a reference point & instructions), but that will also require a tray.
