Hello,

I have just bought a new 300bar 7ltr divers bottle and got it filled. I tried filling my dye 68/4500 tank with it and the guage on the dye tank only seems to get up to 3000psi and just sits there.

Any ideas why it wont seem to fill past this point?

Thanks in advance

Si

new 300bar

the bottle only fills to 300bar so it can only give that much pressure back!
cheers

300bar = 4350.9psi according to google Nichols.

Maybe something to do with the fitting only going to 3k?
Not really an expert on this though, just a thought though :)

you'll never get 4500psi out of a fill, as the air inside will cool and lose pressure. I've seen them go down to 3500psi if fast filled, but 3000psi is a bit low. You may have a leaky valve on the dive tank, or the valve may not have been tightened enough, and it's lost gas.

Humm its weird, the place where I got it filled definately fills to 300bar, he has both pressures. I have checked all the connections and there ae no leaks.

How is it best to fill? Slowly?

Thanks for help so far people :)

it would have been filled to 300 bar (4500psi approx), but if the temperature of the compressed air is very high it will cool to a much lower pressure.
Filling the bottle slower, and/or with the bottle immersed in cold water will keep this pressure loss minimised.

If it was the first time you've had the dive tank filled, it probably didn't get filled all the way, so best to fill off it a few times, take it back and they'll do a proper fill for you. I had the same problem with my first one, managed to get a 2.8k fill from it.
