Din Fill Rig Overhaul Help

Gents,

Thanks to Sid Sidgewick and Tom Allen for previous help on o-rings for my fill rig. I tried a plumbing centre but eventually went to my local dive shop scubanet in Aylesbury who gave me the o-rings as long as I put money in the RNLI charity box. Job done.

I think my fill rig however needs a general overall as it leaks slightly at the din connection and its hard to get the fill nipple in and out..... The o-ring on the din connection, no problem as scubanet will help me with that. I'm more concerned with the connection to the paintball fill nipple, as it seems a bit 'stiff'.

Is their anything I can do to it to make it less 'stiff'?

Any help appreciated.

oil it.....

sorry bad joke!! (for the unenlightenend never ever ever ever put any from of lube/oil anywhere near HPA fill points....)

may not be the rig, but rather the nipple? my old nipple got a bit scuffed through use, a little filing brings it round again. can't do this too often tho' as it decreases the size of the nipple a little each time, so reduces the grip in the quick-release of the rig. new fill nipple then required.

I was tempted it put in my thread starter a really negative point about people stating WD40 etc.... but yes obvious point taken, it can't be oiled!

Thing is I have two tanks, one being my original ally tank bought last September 2006, and my new-ish being my fibre bought in Feb 2007. They both seem to have the same problem with the fill rig, hence my conclusion that perhaps the fill rig is at fault and not my nipples (ooh-err fnar fnar).

Before I consider sanding or filing my nipples down (oh dear) can people humour me by providing any solutions regarding my fill rig.

The wear on fill nipples is common, and is caused by the balls in the fill rig connector pressing the face of the fill nipple backwards and burring up the edge. Also the holes that carry the small balls in the connector can burr up, it is less common than the fill nipple problem.
Both the fill nipple and fill rig connector really need to be replaced, but a little bit of fettling will bring the fill nipples back to a reasonable working condition.
