Diamond Wars Season 2: Episode Six: Revenge of the USDE
As the fog lifted on the battlefield, once more two of the biggest Corporate Giants in the Diamond Trade converged to clash horns in the Jungles of the Democratic Corimbe. 1000h saw both armies meeting in the Stockade Neutral Zone, preparing to part ways. The next time they would meet each other would be in battle. The USDE were currently falling behind in their earnings and things were looking grim. Cmdr Brightsword was still M.I.A. with no word on his return or whereabouts.
At the Hoffmann Minex Corporation’s Brand New HQ in the Ancient Region, Drask Hoffmann and his 2IC, Gen Papa G were prepping their troops to move, tactics were being discussed and the army being separated, ready to take their objectives Not only were they to retrieve their earnings left on Coetzee Way, they had to also replenish their water. The day was heating up, and without it, their troops would fall not from USDE gunfire, but from their own exhaustion. Finding a water source near the F.B. Gunship, the HMC successfully retrieved the liquid replenishment for their troops and boosting their morel in the process.
Just off Kapanay Trail, Col Mayo and Cmdr Scott were organising the USDE’s Forces to retrieve their wages and also begin the disruption on the HMC. Crater Bridge, at the end of Crater Way was an ideal place to set their plan in action. Waiting for the HMC to get near, Cpl Blakeway awaited in cover, demolitions at the ready. As the HMC troops arrived, Cpl Blakeway blew up the Bridge, scattering HMC everywhere! Grinning, the lone Cpl returned to his HQ, to report his accomplishment.
Early on in the battle the USDE had a report of one of their Intel Officers being shot on his way back from meeting with The Brain. Who was this Intel Officer? Quickly realising how hazardous it would be if the HMC were to search the body, a special unit of the USDE, The Lucky 15’s, were dispatched to retrieve their fallen comrade. The area of his last known location was crawling with HMC troops and scavengers, after an intense fire fight, two of the Lucky 15’s managed to get in, and load the Body of their officer onto a stretcher to return him to the HQ. The body was NOT that of Cmdr Brightsword.
A short distant away, the HMC were moving into the Ore Refinery – the team that controlled this area would have the advantage of refining their Diamond Ore much quicker than conventional methods. Drask Hoffmann sent in a large portion of Hoffmann Foot Soldiers, led by Gen Papa G. They held the Eastern area surrounding the Refinery well, and fought off any USDE advancement and successfully held the Ore Refinery.
Noticing the HMC Movements, Cmdr Scott issued an order to Destroy Bunker 2 just off Coetzee way in order to prevent the HMC from Taking the Borders. Unfortunately, the HMC were already there and well dug in. Creating perfect cover fire, the HMC held the USDE off, who had to retreat to Bunker 1, where they re organised. Both armies stood at a stalemate around Coetzee Way.
After thorough searching, a note was found on the USDE body collected by the Lucky 15’s… The note had a simple message on: ‘Bring the Rain’ along with a contact number. Cmdr Scott, of the USDE contacted the number reluctantly. I am told that he first tried to reverse the call charges. Perhaps the Global Credit Crunch had taken its toll on the USDE’s funding? Or maybe Commander Scott is just cheap? Either way, it was The Brain who was contacted who offered the cheap commander a free air strike as compensation for the loss of their troop. Choosing to use this air strike on a timer Cmdr Scott called for an attack on the heavily defended Ore Refinery, a highly tactical position on the Eastern Borders of the Corimbe. Launching this attack at 1158h an airstrike flew over, dropping a bombardment on the unsuspecting HMC troops, few casualties arose from the strike, however an extremely large section of USDE had moved into position around the clearing. As the surviving HMC troops fled, the USDE opened up fire and swiftly eliminated the threat.
Attempting to flank the USDE, the HMC mobilised and began patrolling Crater Way. They got nearly halfway round the ring road, but were met but a garrison of USDE troops, near the Deadfalls Region. An ambush was triggered, and the HMC were yet again forced into a retreat. Things were looking grim, the USDE seemed to have a full foothold across the centre of the battlefield, picking off HMC advancements as they came.
Just as moral was running low for the HMC; a small packet of troops managed to push past the USDE’s Western defences and struck a blow to their lines by blowing up Landing Craft 2. A beached craft that was used for storing the USDE’s supplies. Running low on ammo and troops, both forces, withdrew and regrouped.
Wanting to get an early start in refining their Ore, the USDE sent a team back to the Ore Refinery. With water supplies running low for both Armies, they began searching for supplies dropped by passing convoys. The HMC were first to replenish their stock, after stumbling across a crate near Dear Leap, whilst on the way to the Ore Refinery. The USDE managed to locate a supply on Kokulu’s Bridge, crossing Corimbe Rive, but had a literal up hill struggle to return it to their HQ, with HMC troops close behind them.
Over at the Refinery, the advancing armies met head on, and after a vicious battle, the HMC came out on top. What were their Command feeding them? They fought hard and successfully pushed the USDE back away from the Refinery. The HMC gave chase as the USDE fled. First falling back to Bunker 1. On this position though, doom was imminent, as Drask Hoffmann called in an Air Strike, which forced the USDE to retreat further still, back towards Kapanay Trail East.
Near Crater Bridge, the USDE had managed to push through Westumbo Rd, near the FB Gunship. Intending on setting up a patrol Cmdr Scott ordered Sgt Mears-Turner along with Cmdr Ainsley. B and the Lucky 15’s to advance up Westumbo Rd to the Ancient region, this was successful, however, on their return, they came under contact. An equal sized section of troops began attacking them and after a short battle, with only a few casualties, the attacking group were recognise: as another USDE Squad! Both Squads joined up, and began an onslaught of HMC troops around the HMC Command HQ. Safely behind their new defence line, a USDE demolitions team blew up the HMC’s defence missiles along with their fuel reserve. In a complete reversal, up near the T.D. Base, the HMC were sabotaging Truck 3, where the USDE had moved their supplies. Yet another blow was brought on the USDE, as their supplies were running thin. However, Col Mayo, and a small section were dug in around the T.D. Base, and called an Air Strike for back up. Landing perfectly on the HMC, the Strike gave Col. Mayo and his troops enough time to retake the T.D. Base for the USDE.
Pushing back towards each other, Coetzee Way became a hotspot for the battle. Both teams fighting for control of this spine road, each trying to prevent the other from using it for their traffic. The air was full of flying ammunition and casualties were growing for both Armies. The HMC made one final push, and took control of the road, but at a cost. Using the battle as a diversion, several USDE sections were moving through the battlefield and taking over strategic positions. Led by Cpl Howell, a section succeeded in taking the key position of Crater Lake, and flanking the HMC troops. The HMC were forced to pull back, and the USDE regrouped.
In this episode of Diamond Wars, the Hoffmann Minex Corporation earned $458,000,000 by completing the majority of their core missions, collecting most of their Recon Intel, and shooting all of their sniper targets. They were also fined a substantial amount for ‘H.O.T’ weapons.
The United States Diamond Exports accomplished most of their missions, and completed most of their sniper and Intel missions. They also managed to collect a staggering 9 diamond ore crate compared to the HMC’s 1. They also only had a few ‘H.O.T’ weapons. They also bought an air strike.
Overall, after spending, this year the USDE have earned an amazing £2,161,000,000, but the HMC are still in the lead with £2,331,000,000!
The gap has been closing, slightly, however: rumours have been circulating about a recruitment drive within these two mighty corporations. Will these reinforcements arrive by the time the battle recommences?
