After 10 hours slog in baking conditions and nearly fifty people to get thru, we got it down to six people who will go thru to the next round of selection.
These are -

Lee and Wayne (brothers) from Kelly's Heroes
Flash from the Tigers
Sam Keats
Andy Williams from Backlash
Tom Pemberton from I think, the Knights or something.

Chris Edwards from JCS has got straight into the team on his performance today and therefore does not have to play the next qualifying round.
Well done Chrissy !!!
Bloody hell, we gotta lotta Northern *******s in this team :)

A special mention has to go to Dave (Moomin) from the Kelly's who was one of the outstanding players of the day and only size stopped him from going any further.
Also Nick Goryn also played some great solid paintball with size also being the main reason he did not progress.

I can't believe the depth of talent we have over here and it is truly only circumstance that has kept these guys from surfacing before.
It's also amazing how one supposedly novice team (Kelly's Heroes) has supplied the next round of qualification with four players, it could have been more had Phil got his ass outa bed and made the trip south !!
A big thanks goes to Beaker, Nicky Truter and Mark Toye for the unstinting help and advice throughout the day.
Thanks also to Bowen and Junior for their help.

And last but not least, I would like to thank Clive, Ross and the rest of the guys down at the Temple for the site and all those players who turned up, it was a great day and I enjoyed every second of it..thanks

Pete

PS Well done Gillie :)

PPS I'm knackered and need to sleep for a long time :) zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Night y'all

I've got to add my congrats to the above.

Of course the guys who got through to the next stage should be proud, but also all the others who showed up, played some great ball and made our job of selection difficult in the extreme! As all the guys (Nick, Mark etc) will testify there was much scratching of heads, a few differences of opinion (Nick ;)) but in the end - and I mean right at the end ! - we got there.

And bottom line is - Robbo, me and Ledz, plus ALL the players want to win this thing soo badly it's untrue.......and judging by the quality of players we've unearthed, I believe we are in with the best chance possible :D

Pete - I will catch up with you in the next couple of days mate :)

What do You mean size being the reason they didn't progress? If they play well enough, size shouldn't matter? Should it?

So do you plan on gettting these guys all together after the X-ball defeat ... I mean ... uh ... tourney ... to play some NPPL stuff? I mean they're sure to do better than Shockwave UK does in the NiPPLe ... :D :D :D

i dont understand why all of u give shockwave such a hard time

ok they have lots some form but they are still the team in teh uk everyone wants to beat, this time last year they were on form and won in denmark, ive watched a lot of there games and what ever u may say they have some of the best players in the country. x ball a side, last year they were the only UK team out there at pro level who were making the semis regually (even winning an event)

i feel that there is far to many ppl who flame the pro players in the uk. im sorry but we get f£ck all really compared to the ppl we are playing against, we have to hold down jobs and some of us have to beg for holidays so we can just about cover teh milienuim sieres(had to mention that for alan).

this is not a dig at teh x-ball team just ppl who dont know f-all giving shockwave a hard time. although i did not make the last 14 i felt selection was pretty good ;D its not easy to pick ppl from one day of paintball so my hat is off to all the ppl who stood watching games games all day ;D

cheers for a good day at teh trials, well done to the kellys brothers u lads did well

I like to make fun of them because they are British ... and they're better than me ... and I'm insecure about that. It's not so much that they're British .. it's that they're foreign ... and I'm an American ... and American teams are better than foreign ones ... For now. Alls I'm sayin' is that They haven't been doing very well in the NiPPLe, and That I think this X-Ball team (properly worked out) would do better.

Now that I'm done making an ass of my self, I'll shut up.

Correct me if I'm wrong (as if you wouldn't ;) ) but don't the X-ball rules say that you can't have more than two players from any single team?

Darkwerks - the 2 players from one team thing is a self imposed rule by the US guys to avoid accusations of bias, it doesn't apply to the other countries (look at Russia and France - both based almost entirely on one team). If you look at the US they have such a bloody huge pool of players that could easily make the team, they put the 2 from 1 thing in to even it out a (little) bit.

Personally I don't think the US will do that well at X-ball, their game doesn't suit it (and they haven't ever dominated things like the Portugal Nations cup)- I think Russia and, as much as I hate to say it Magued :), Sweden will be the teams to beat.

Micah - the size thing was in the event of 2 people showing equal skill etc, the one who is younger, smaller, fitter will get the nod.

As for those Northerners - can't fault them, they all stepped up, played the ball required and proved it.

And yes - it was chuffing hard to pick people - when you are stood around after the very last game of the day at 6:30 or whatever still unable to decide on the last choices, you know they've given you a tough job. But one that I am enjoying immensely :)
